Klimb and I were discussing having a poker league and were wondering if any of the other forumers were interested. Here's the preliminary thoughts...
$20 Bi-Weekly Tournament, Half of the prize pool goes to the WSOP package valued at $2500 which will include entry into a $1500 tournament of your choosing, airfare and hotel accomodations, the other half will be given out either as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize money (depending on the number of entrants) for Bi-Weekly tournament.
Depending on how you place you receive points, for example if there are 9 people 1st place gets 9 points, 2nd gets 8 points and so on, on the last tournament you recieve chips based on your point total. Whoever wins the final tournament gets the trip and tournament buy-in. If you should win over $10,000 (after taxes) you get 90% and the league gets 10% to split among the members.
These tournaments would be held on Pokerstars so the tournament should last between 1-2 hours depending on the number of people. If you can not make it you can have someone sub for you, if you can not find a sub you will be forced to sit out and will still get points based upon where you go out. Anyone interested?

As you know, I'm definitely in and can probably get a couple more guys to commit if the day the games are played fit their schedule.
I think this will be a lot of fun. I like how it's set up for a season, and since it's online all the hard work is done for us by the site. Each tournament wouldn't take long, and it would be fun to shoot the shit with other forumers while playing cards. Also, you don't have to be a pro to have a legitimate chance at the grand prize since everyone will automatically have a seat at the Championship table.
Plus, one thing Douche failed to mention that the winner will receive...a dinner with me! That's right, since I live in Vegas I'll be sure to hang out with you at least once during your stay here. I'm thinking Panda Express, but if I dig you maybe it'll progress to a restaurant with actual servers. Who knows!
If meeting me adds no appeal to this, then I'll have no problem completely ignoring the fact that you're in my city. Whatever, dude.

Yes you'd be using PokerStars, and it's not a ring game where you can lose $200 its a $20 buy in per tournament and winner gets money and everyone else gets points for the final tournament.

I am in as long as it is at a fairly late time EST. I rarely get an hour of peace unless it is after 10 or so.

Also aren't you like 16? Not a knock on your age but you must be atleast 21 to be able to enter the WSOP.

No problem. my social life consists of asking cashiers if they have this or that in 1.5L instead of 750mL.

Response time. What he wants you to think his response time is. What you think he wants you to think his response time is. Betting patterns. Relative hand strength. Fold percentage. Reloading chips? What is their avatar?

I love poker and this sounds like a fun idea but I can't really afford to potentially lose $40 a month. Also being in England, I wouldn't really be able to take advantage of the grand prize.

I might do it, but I really can't play too late on a Friday or Saturday night. I'd have to be done before 10. Ooooo, conflicts.

The $40 a month is a valid excuse, but remember it's the WORLD Series of Poker. People from all over the world play in it.
To clarify, part of the grand prize is $1000 to pay for airfare and hotels while you're out here. Granted, from England it would be a costly plane ticket, but hotels out here can be sure cheap.
Also, I'm thinking maybe we should try for a Sunday afternoon game. Seems like Friday and Saturday night are tough for most people.

Well we don't have an "offical" time yet. Once we get enough people to start we will start that discussion. I could do Weekend Afternoons, nights or mornings. Weekdays are pretty much off limits except friday and sunday afternoon and night are bad.

It's Bi-Weekly, so technically $10 a week or if you want to make it look even easier to save for...$1.43 a day. That's a pop. And if you have a job that pays minimum wage...that's 12 minutes of work each day.
