I prayed for this day since the first time I watched Lion King and now they've taken it away...

Quote:
TUCSON, Ariz. – An Arizona restaurant has decided to scrap plans to offer African lion meat in its tacos.

Bryan Mazon, the owner of Boca Tacos and Tequila, said Monday that his Tucson eatery has received "many threats" against the restaurant, family members, customers and vendors since he announced last week that he was taking prepaid orders for the exotic tacos.

Boca planned to start serving the lion tacos Feb. 16 at a cost of $8.75 apiece.

Mazon says his restaurant received orders from people around the world. The eatery already has served up python, alligator, elk, kangaroo, rattlesnake, oysters, turtle, duck and frog legs in its tacos.

Mazon says he'll continue to bring unique menu items to the Tucson community and his customers, but not at the expense of safety.

Awesome. So now a lion died for no reason whatsoever, as opposed to filling our overly distended bellies. There's some reverence for nature, there. I hope they kept the naughty bits, at least, so they could sell it to the Chinese.

Lions can take care of themselves. Let's ban meat from animals that can't defend themselves, like cows. Or rabbits.

Just out of curiosity, is it animal cruelty to raise rabbits solely to feed your pet snake(s)?

Raising any animal for food isn't cruelty. However, the way you treat and slaughter that animal may be an issue.

Also live animals for snakes in captivity is frowned upon. So you would have to kill them creepy.

Rabbits can't defend themselves?
I have to say, that not allowing a person to get a lion taco is actually kind of disappointing. They said that they have already served things like a Kangaroo and alligators. So, where were the activists in that? or where the threats just on all of his exotic meat?

Exactly. We eat a decent amount of rattlesnake out here, but apparently if it's not something you can make a plush animal out of, nobody cares. Everyone loves dolphins, but who cares about the tuna?

I'm of the opinion we should farm every animal, even the endangered ones. It keeps poachers from doing illegal activities and the wild numbers aren't bothered. I bet white rhino tastes fucking amazing.

I can't wait for the Japanese to clone the mammoth. Mmmmm.... tasty mammoth steaks. I hope they can bring back dinosaurs one day, so that we might be able to taste their cooked flesh as well.
