Apple announced its mastermind CEO Steve Jobs is taking a medical leave of absence, but did not disclose the extent of his health issues or how long he's expected to be away. In 2009, Jobs took a six-month leave for a liver transplant and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004.

In other articles I have read that he is taking a 2 year break.

How will Apple do without him? Honestly he is the one giving approval on just about every decision that company makes. I hope he left a very detailed guide for the next guy.

Does this mean that the iPhone/iPad will keep their single buttons?

Dammit! The single button worked on the Atari 2600, and it works on the iPhone!

Seriously though, the iPhone needs more buttons. What about all the pirates who want to run NES games on their jail-broken iPhones! Won't someone please think of them!?

Anything that requires a d-pad and buttons on a smart phone pretty much sucks in my book. It's very confusing.

D-Pads can be done very well on touch screens if enough attention is paid to them.
Also it looks like we are going to see just how important Steve Jobs is to Apple.

Laughing

I wonder what will actually happen in the future.

this might be an alarmist news story, especially since its being reported by the national enquirer, but apparently Jobs only has weeks to go:
Quote:
But today shocking new pictures were published in the supermarket tabloid the National Enquirer which suggests things are worse than Apple would have the world believe.

The Enquirer claims that the man behind the iPod, iPhone and iPad is stricken with pancreatic cancer and may have just six weeks to live.
The new photos show Mr Jobs looking painfully frail and weak, with his jeans and dark top hanging loosely on his 6ft 2in, rail-thin body.

The pictures are not yet available online and so far the graphic images have not had an effect on Apple's share price which today closed up slightly at 363.13.
Mr Jobs weight is said to have dropped from a pre-cancer 175lb to 130lb now, according to the National Enquirer.
His thinning hair is a sign of the effects of the advanced chemotherapy usually used to treat the disease.

Looks like it was not true and it was dismissed.

He is meeting with the President today along with the CEO of Google and maybe Zuckerberg.
