i have no idea what causes this to happen, but i'am damn sure it is caused by fucking humans.

Why is that? Certainly, the reports from a hundred or two hundred years ago, well before real industrialization, have much the same thing happening, but look at how much has changed?

yes thats true. anyway i think the chance that this was caused by humans is higher then the chance that it happened naturally.

Great reason to ban fully automatic pellet guns.

Best information in that article:

"Mass bird deaths aren't uncommon."

Apparently the official line is that fireworks caused the bird kill, which is a load of hooey. The excuse was that someone (meaning residents) set off professional-grade fireworks in a residental area, which caused a panic in the nearby birds. I'm a former professional pyrotechnician, and I can say with all certainty that unless those fireworks were stolen, there's no way someone who wasn't licensed got their hands on them, and if they did, there should be a criminal investigation. Second, unless they had fiberglass tubing, they (the firework users) would've probably been severely injured, especially if there was a low break. Third, if it was fireworks, why weren't ANY OTHER BIRDS affected by them? I don't proclaim to know the reason, but that isn't it.

The fireworks/lighting theory is complete bullshit in my eyes.

It's probably nothing serious, just maybe a little bird flu.

The animals all realized they were in the south, and took the easiest way out.

Apparently one of the new stations, I think it's MSNBC that has Anderson Cooper? They called in Kirk Cameron as an expert on the End of Days regarding the phenomenon. Hoo-hoo!

If it IS weapons testing, acts of god, or alien invasion, it's not like there's much we could do about it, so why worry?

The answer to this problem is, in fact, basilisks. The problem is that they're too far away, so instead of turning the birds to stone and leaving clear-cut evidence, they're just dropping dead.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/27/arkansas.bird.mystery/index.html?hpt=T2

Apparently the birds died from "blunt trauma"

and "The tests ruled out bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, pesticides and avicides (chemicals used to kill birds) as causes of death."

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm still not buying that excuse.

So now we have a much bigger problem: Who's beating all these birds to death??? O.o
Do they even know if they died in the air or when they crashed?
