If we just make sure all robots are constructed without the addition of a "Red Button" we should have no problems

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

They might be connected. Think about it, robots are great in fights against zombies. If we had a zombie apocalypse, we would send robot soldiers to kick their asses. They the robots would think "hey, we could kick some human ass too". Then we are screwed Razz

I read a rather lengthy article about this a few days ago, actually. Watson was programmed to compensate for human reaction times, and responds correctly approximately as quickly as a person (60% accuracy). Watson was not allowed an internet connection, but was preloaded with encyclopaedias, dictionaries, and other sundry knowledge sources. The computer was fed the question as it was read, so that it didn't gain an unfair advantage via extra time.

It has trouble with nuanced questions that aren't simple factchecks.

Also, wouldn't you have to program them to kill humans and disobey their creators in the first place for an insurrection to happen?

Tonight the two greatest Jeopardy contestants of all time will face off against the Watson IBM Super Computer

I know this could be listed under TV, but honestly I could give two shits about the show, this is about technology and AI integrating so deeply into our culture that it can actually begin to respond to it.

I am excited to see how this works out. I am actually rooting against the computer, but predict it will win.

The only thing I would be curious about is Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy...how does a computer know how much to risk? Would it based on a percentage or what?

This is gonna be awesome, I look forward to it. I'd like to see the actual response time of the machine in comparison to the humans.

Had this been played in the existing thread to begin with, you'd have seen plenty of information regarding it.

I thought the Final Jeopardy question would be easier for a computer to answer than most of the normal ones...

Well, Watson kicked some ass. What I found particularly interesting is that Watson has a static database of information. Imagine what would happen if a computer like that had access to the internet. All of those porn star tweets would surly clog his gears.

Watson can eat a dick. I want to see a machine play Wipeout, then I'd be impressed.

I know it doesn't officially count, but this was the first match that Brad Rutter lost.
