Bandai-Namco's Super Robot Wars series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, so of course there's a new title in the works. In last week's Famitsu, the company announced Dainiji Super Robot Taisen Z. The "Dainiji" part means "the second," but carries a different sort of feel to it than the usual Roman numerals used by most game series. It's the same prefix used to denote the Second World War, for example. So, the new game's English title might be "The Second Super Robot War Z." That is, if this game ever had a Zippo lighter's chance in Hel of making it out of Japan. It's been made as a direct sequel to the PS2 title Super Robot Wars Z apparently.

A friend is really into the series. However, he's not happy about TTGL's inclusion simply because of scale issues; what the heck do you use to team up with a planetary scale mecha?

Holy shit! Gurren Laggan's in the game!? Sweet!!!
I'm sure that in terms of scale, they're gonna keep it up to Arc Gurren (Battleship sized), with maybe the Dai-Gurren and the infamous Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan for story events only.
And don't give me lip about there not being playable Battleship-sized mechs; for crying out loud, that's one of the things about the Macross series... (starting at 2:08 )
Still, looking forward for a SRW Giga Drill Breaker.
I've always wanted to buy a PSP, but put it off. This was the straw that broke the camel's back.
About the cast, the series new to this game are Code Geass (season 1), Gurren Lagann (s1 + movie, which means Yoko gets that tank thing, bunch of other chars get their own mechs), Gundam 00 (s1) Dai-Guard, Shin Mazinger, VOTOMS, and the Macross Frontier and Eureka 7 movies so far. I myself find TTGL, Geass and 00 "it was totally gonna come, but great anyway" additions, and VOTOMS to be a nice surprise. The reason why only season 1 of some of these shows are in is because this game is the first of a two-parter, so we don't have to worry about stuff like TTGL's size just yet. Also, there are supposedly 4 more unannounced series. Some people I know are banking on two of those to be G Gundam and GaoGaiGar.
Also, I was bit worried that the cast might be a clusterfuck story-wise until I found out a good amount of the series here already had their plots finished in the first SRW Z and only 1 or 2 units will return from said completed series.
In other SRW news, however, J got translated, and I wanna make a topic about that one soon, along with an introduction for the uninitiated.
EDIT: Sath, the original Gundam isn't represented, but Zeta Gundam is (from Z1)
oh, it's the eureka Seven movie? That means all of the characters will suck. At least Holland will probably pilot his B303 Devilfish instead of the 909.

Ugh, that's one of the reasons they call it Super Robot Taisen over here.

This move better be in the game, that's for sure...
Here's the trailer. God I wish I could understand and play this.

The latest preview video is out (16 minutes!) and apparently the Data Install info on the back cover says it be 909 MB, which is more than the new Dissidia game's and that took a friend an hour to install on his PSP. The save file size itself is also going to be 1056KB each, which is just over 1MB. That may not seem like a lot, but the average PSP save file is only 256-512KB, which is less than half of that.
12:19 mark shows the new main character
