Understandable, but I didn't hear about GBIII. And the claim that its "going to be better than I and II"

I was referencing that I didn't know about GBIII until I read this, or that the director said it was going to be Better than I and II. Not that it wasn't in the story.

They say all the actors are involved, but I always take that to mean Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver as well, and that's unfortunately not the case.

Sigourney Weaver might do it. She regretted not doing the video game.

Quote:
The holdout?

“That would be the famous Bill Murray — Mr. Venkman," Reitman says of the quirky karaoke crasher/funnyman, who starred alongside Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in "Ghostbusters" (1984) and "Ghostbusters II" (1989).

Reitman, 64, adds that he feels the latest installment is better than the previous two movies. "I'm really jazzed about it," he tells CNN.

And if Murray doesn't like it? “We have a very complicated deal," says Reitman. "Let's just put it that way."

Apparently Ivan Reitman has pictures of Bill Murray fucking a goat?

Some things I've been hearing is bringing in a new younger team. I know the Ghostbusters are old. However, there is absolutely no reason to bring in new blood, unless they limit it to 2 characters. If you bring in anymore than that, you're going to spend a great deal of the movie focusing on these new guys in order to get the audience to like them or something. If you limit it to 2, you could really just have 2 Old Busters to each new character, therefore limiting most of the dialogue to the old guys. Also I heard Jack Black's name thrown out there. If he's in it, I'm not fucking watching it. Anyways, I still believe it's possible to just do it without anyone new, and just focus on their story.

Secondly, I still really want Louis Tully. Someone needs to hound the shit out of Rick Moranis to come out of retirement, if even to do just a cameo. Hell, if he could do that Brother Bear bullshit, he can sit in front of a camera for maybe 10 minutes and spout off some random shit. I think if they gave Moranis the freedom to do what he wanted with the character, he'd probably do it.

Jack Black was in Ghostbusters already, and he was brilliant.

I haven't seen PBKR, but I've heard good things. Although Jack Black to me is very one note and uninteresting in 95% of the stuff I've seen him in. The rare exceptions are High Fidelity and Saving Silverman.

Jack Black is another Nicolas Cage situation. He's a competent actor, and knows his shit, but most of the time he's expected to act that way. It just comes more naturally to him, because that's how he really is.

I agree that there's no point in doing a third Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray, but I disagree on it being a bad idea to bring in a new team. It could really be done well if they concentrate on the old guys showing the new guys the ropes. It's all about picking new guys who will mesh well with the old guys, and concentrating more on the synergy that they would all have together, as opposed to just concentrating on introducing the new guys. They could "enhance" each other, with the old guys relying on the new guys to do the heavy acting (it's not easy to jump around and fight CGI ghosts when you're pushing 60, I imagine) and the new guys relying on the old guys to keep everything grounded and not feeling like a shitty attempt to cash in on the name.

It's all about how good the script is. A script that nobody has read yet.

I kind of agree with Dodds. I don't mind new blood, as long as it's no more than like 2 characters. Having more than 2 PLUS the original Ghostbusters? That's just too many goddamn Ghostbusters.

They could tie it in with Zombieland and have Murray just play a ghost of himself with a gaping shotgun wound in his chest.

That would be the greatest thing I've ever seen. Hell, have Dan Aykroyd get killed by the 3 uncle ghosts from Casper.

I don't really understand the hatred for Jack Black. He's in a lot of bad movies, I'll give you that. But in general I like him.

honestly, a whole plot where all of the old ghostbusters were killed in action, and now their ghosts have to train a new generation of ghostbusters would be highly amusing.

To me he is now like an unfunny toned down/not as gross version of Zach Galifianakis. I sorta liked him at one time but his act has gotten old to me. I like his band Tenacious D alot however.

I also think he became popular because he looks like the guy that doesn't belong in Hollywood but in a comic book store. However,Jonah Hill and others have taken his place in my opinion in that category while being more talented and making me laugh much more on a consistent basis.

I have given Black's crap movies enough chances but no more.

Heh.....well I guess that is a fair enough assessment. To be honest, I haven't seen many of his later movies, I just heard they sucked. I did like School of Rock and Shallow Hal, though.

Jack also gets points with me because he's a metalhead.

Long suffering Ghostbuster fans might actually see the ghost at the end of the tunnel. Dan Aykroyd laid it all out on the Dennis Miller Radio (Click here http://nerdbastards.com/2011/08/25/ghostbuster-3-who-they-gonna-call-dan-aykroyd-calls-dennis-miller/ to hear a clip) show the other day.
Dan said:

“Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. Murray.” “That is our hope. We have an excellent script. What we have to remember is that ‘Ghostbusters’ is bigger than any one component, although Billy (Murray) was absolutely the lead and contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]. The concept is much larger than any individual role and the promise of ‘Ghostbusters 3′ is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood.”

The comedian also confirmed rumors that the movie plot revolves around a new generation of Ghostbusters, hinting at the sorry states of his and Ramis’ characters.

“My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the cadillac." “He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the pack… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.”

Aykroyd and Miller go on to talk about possible casting for a next generation of Ghostbusters and says that, while no decisions have been made, he has an actor in mind:

“I like this guy Matthew Gray Gubler from the ‘Criminal Minds’ show, but there’s going to be a casting. We’re going to see everyone that wants to do it. We’re going to need… three guys and a young woman.”

Who wants to place bets that the young woman is going to be Olivia Wilde? She's is in every goddamn movie nowadays.

That's fine she's an okay actor and nice enough to look at. I could live with it.

How are fans of Ghostbusters suffering? It's not like last movie left anything hanging or unresolved that I can recall, I am totally happy with the original movies and have no real desire to see a new one. Let's make some new stuff to enjoy, rather than re treading everything from the past over and over until the Hollywood dog shit encrusted footprints totally obscure and overshadow the thing we were originally exalting through imitation.

I kinda hope there isn't another one, and I don't blame Bill Murray for his attitude. The second one sucked.

I can live without Bill Murray. He's kind of become a dick and I don't think it'll be that big of a loss if he's not in it. Though I'm curious as to what they mean by Egon not fitting in the Harness, does that mean he's huge now?

I kind of enjoyed the second one, not as good as the first, but still alright. His acting in the Ghostbuster video game sucked, but the rest of the Ghostbusters made up for it.
