So I mentioned before that I finally beat Mass Effect 1. I had been playing the game when I visited a friend (he has a 360, I has not). My question is, if I eventually do get a 360, would there be a way to transfer my profile/achievements from his hard drive to mine?

As long as you have a separate profile from his you could sign it up for xbox live and then use the recovery thing once you get one. It is how I put my profile on the school's xboxes. Either that or use a memory card.

Did you try to save the council or focus on Sovereign?

I saved the council. It's not like Sovereign wasn't going to die regardless, and it seemed the smarter political move in the long run.

I'm not sure if your profile is Gold or not, but you should just be able to use a flash drive to transfer your profile across consoles.
If you have purchased anything (arcade games, map packs, and so on), you will probably also want to do a license transfer, which fixes potential problems where games you've purchased aren't shown as unlocked or won't allow you to play them unless you're connected to Xbox Live. You can only do this once a year, which you can find here.

Yea, my friend doesn't have a Gold account but he's got a lot of downloaded games like Wolf of the Battlefield, MvC2, ME 1&2's DLC etc.

Well you cant transfer achievements, I know that off hand. Transferring DLC and Live arcade games is only tied with the 360 and gamertag it's been purchased on. Thanks to DRM

You'll be able to switch your main profile/achievements through a simple download, but you'll need either a memory card or flash drive to move over your save games. And if you bought anything on his xbox you'll have to transfer your licenses over to your box.
