"Many boys and girls out there have a desire to see young hunk Jake Gyllenhaal in tight fitting spandex. Now, the only debate seems to be over what color scheme it will be.

Coming close to nabbing the role of Spider-Man for the first sequel when Tobey Maguire had to consider bowing out due to injury, the "Brokeback Mountain" star apparently remains the top choice to replace Maguire in a fourth "Spider-Man" film which is already in the works at Sony.

Now comes rumours from the British tabloids (via filmick) that New Line are courting him for their "Shazam!" movie featuring Captain Marvel.

On top of this they also state the deciding factor will come down to money, with Jakey set to earn a whopping amount from whichever studio wins."

Personally I want them to let Spidey die with 3. Maguire and Dunst are both looking at other projects. Then again, we might wind up getting the same type of casting issues with Bond movies where a new guy takes over after a certain number of them *shrug*.

They're introducing Gwen Stacy in 3, so they don't need Dunst.

And so it begins....

They get a new Spiderman for #4. Also, it will be a bit campyier, and probably have a different director. Oh and they have Spidergirl in it.

Then when 5 comes out, it has yet another actor playing Spidey, with a horrible script, and even worst director, and big name celebrities horribly portraying third-teir villians.

Then the franchise dies for about a decade...

Then in the summer of 2017 we get, "Spiderman Begins." Hoping to revive the franchise.

Sure, but if it follows the trend, it won't have nipples. The Spider-Man suit, however, will.

this is somethign that hurts my soul, although the idea of spiderman beign portrayed in the same light is hilarious.
