I've had this weird problem for what seems like awhile now and it won't go away. No matter what I do, my breath smells pretty bad. I eat healthy 80% of the time and drink near 1 1/2 gallons of water a day. I brush my teeth and tongue twice a day, floss after every meal and use a tongue scraper. I use mouthwash at night and sometimes in the morning but the minty feeling goes away after 10 minutes and then I can taste that bad taste so it's sometimes not even worth using. It is really strange and I'm very curious as to what is going on.

That is really odd. Have you talked to the doctor or dentist about it?
One thing I would possibly recommend in the short term is either chewing gum or sucking on a hard candy/breath mint/throat lozenge. That'll stimulate salvation, which should help a little--bad breath is made worse by a dry mouth. Obviously that treats the symptom and not the cause though, so I'd ask an expert.

It could be acid reflux (excess stomach acid being pushed past your diaphragm) as that would definitely cause chronic bad breath. Do you get sore throats often, or especially when you first get up in the morning?
If you don't think that's it, just google for "Halitosis (bad breath) causes" and see if anything applies to you. Cavities can cause bad breath too and sometimes cavities don't produce pain so people don't know they even have one. So if it isn't acid reflux, definitely see a dentist to rule that out.

It could be a dental problem, but it could be what you eat or drink too. Certain foods and drinks like garlic, peppers, onions, deli meats, strong cheeses, fish, coffee and booze can leave a lingering odor in your breath for up to a day or possibly even longer no matter how much you brush.
Garlic especially leaves oils that cling to your mouth. It also stays within your system for a long time and can make even your skin smell.

After doing a bit of research, I think it might be post nasal drip. I can hack up a lot of phlegm but I'll go talk to my dentist about it soon. Thanks guys.
