In order to get the 3D version of Avatar, you must buy a bundle pack that has it.

Oh, by the way, Sony is doing the same thing, but with movies that no one gives a shit about.

A few years ago I'd be interested in it for the gaming aspect, but now it's just gonna be space marines fight aliens in 3d: modern warfare.

Yes, that is exactly how I read it.
At least for the first 3-4 months of its release. I think that the exclusivity of the contract ends after that.

I thought Avatar was a good movie. Not great, but good. 3D TV does suck though.

Oh. Well if it's only 3-4 months then meh. They do the same things with other video distribution--Blockbuster gets it a month before Netflix/Redbox, etc. No real big.

Hey, it limits the amount of movies I can theoretically watch that make me violently physically ill! That and I have an off-brand everything except for 360. Oh well.

Any company that forces you to get a bundle for the one thing you want can go fuck itself.
"Gee, I would love to watch Boomerang"
"You'll have to buy the basic package, box, extended package and HD package"
Fuck that.

3D can suck my balls. Much like motion controls in videogames, I wish technology companies would quit trying to shove things down our throats when no one asked for them.

I agree with Syd. I spent the entire nearly three hours in the theater wondering when it was going to get good. Then it ended. I never go over the fact that it was Pocahautas (sp?) futuristic version. Also it had plot holes out the wazoo which always irritates me.

I'm sure it's been said before, but it was basically super pretty graphics mashed up with Dance In Wolves in SPAAAAAACE!
Not terrible, but not as fucking revolutionary as everyone made it out to be.

What made it revolutionary wasn't the storyline; it was the progress of technology. Cameron pioneered techniques and tech that will be used for years to come.
It was visually one of the best movies of all time and it was a great experience in the theater. At home, without the suped up home theater it's still entertaining but not nearly as good as in the theater.
