So, today I received an e mail... I laughed for a good five minutes upon reading it. Here it is :

RE: PAYMENT NOTIFICATION:

WE ARE WRITING TO KNOW IF IT'S TRUE THAT YOU ARE DEAD.
BECAUSE WE RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FROM ONE MR. GERSHON SHAPIRO OF USA STATING THAT YOU ARE DEAD AND THAT YOU HAVE GIVING HIM THE RIGHT TO CLAIM YOUR FUNDS. THIS IS A TRICK QUESTION.
HE STATED YOU DIED ON A CAR ACCIDENT. HE HAS BEEN CALLING US REGARDING THIS ISSUE, BUT WE CANNOT PROCEED WITH HIM UNTIL WE CONFIRM THIS BY NOT HEARING FROM YOU AFTER 7 WORKING DAYS. BE ADVISED THAT WE HAVE MADE ALL ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU TO RECEIVE AND CONFIRM YOUR FUNDS WITHOUT ANYMORE STRESS, AND WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DELAYS.
ALL WE NEED TO CONFIRM NOW IS YOUR BEEN DEAD OR STILL ALIVE. BECAUSE THIS MAN'S MESSAGE BROUGHT SHOCK TO OUR MINDS. AND WE JUST CAN'T PROCEED WITH HIM UNTIL WE CONFIRM IF THIS IS A REALITY OR NOT BUT IF IT HAPPENED WE DID NOT HEAR FROM YOU AFTER 7 WORKING DAYS, THEN WE SAY: MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE"

They only send me spam about getting cheap vicodin, which I already have plenty of thanks to the doctor on campus anyway.

Okay, seriously, what the hell bank lets random strangers claim another person's bank account for the hell of it because they say "Oh, that guy's dead. He said I can have it"?

Also, the World Bank doesn't lend to private citizens.

Also, that video is really, really hard to believe.

One of my friends had her Facebook hacked last week. They harvested all her friends' e-mail addresses into a mailing list, then deleted her Facebook. Then, they sent out an e-mail claiming to be her, saying she had taken a last minute, surprise vacation to London, only to be mugged. And she needed money to get back home. Not a bad plan, I suppose. Except that if I didn't know her well enough to have her cellphone number, why would I be inclined to wire her money? And if I did have her cellphone number, which I did, I could find out that it was a scam.

That is kinda funny though they could have come up with a better location for a surprise vacation honestly. No one would take a surprise vacation to London in the winter unless they had family there. Now some place warm like Hawaii or the Bahamas I could maybe see, but not London lol. Regardless she probably should make sure she is careful about which of those stupid "like" things she allows access to her profile.
