I'm pretty sure they are named Midgets for their size, not for their capabilities.
As for being politically correct, it depends if you pay attention to the euphemism treadmill. Personally I think that we give some reasonable words too much power. This would be one of them.

On a serious note, if any of you see one of those mushroom tins at a blockbuster or where ever snag one immediately. Not only do they look cool, but the candies inside are tasty!
