Family Guy is only half good. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's just fucking stupid. As far as Seth MacFarlane goes, I think he's a good voice actor. That doesn't mean his cartoons are always good.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

So I've been watching the whole Fox Animation Domination, and I've got to say I've not REALLY laughed at Family Guy in some time. American Dad has been pretty good, Cleveland Show is ass, the Simpsons has parts. Family Guy just really fell off. I can't even pinpoint when the last time I had a really good laugh. Actually I can when Peter gives Chris a bullfrog and he punched holes in his back so he could breathe. That was a long time ago.

Come back old/good Family Guy!

I feel the same way. The last time i laughed at Family guy was when Peter finds out that the bird is the word. But even that episode wasn't that good.

I feel really bad now that I'm watching the Adult Swim reruns that I missed out on so much American Dad. Man, I really gotta stop giving up on shows after 2 episodes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, American Dad is fucking hilarious. I really haven't watched Family Guy in a few years, as I only really cared for the first two seasons anyways, but 80% of American Dad episodes have me rolling.

So... the Christmas episode was interesting...

It started off slow and boring... about midway it became fantastic though.

My personal favorite was this little bit:

I could have done without the little "Jew Writers" quip, but for anyone who knows Bridgeport, well... it was fucking awesome.

For me though, they really fucked the episode up with the home invasion. That shit isn't funny. Not even a little. They could have done the scene about a hundred different ways, but they pretty much went along the lines of the Petit family home invasion.

For me, Family Guy is now way too self-referential. It's okay to poke fun at yourself sometimes, but they do it too much. They also love un-subtle humour now, which again, is only good in small amounts.

As for you, well I don't know you but I'm sure you're a jerk!

Problem with Family Guys these days is that the characters have became too predictable in what they are going to do each show. All the running gags have gotten stale or stolen from the Simpsons.None of the characters have really evolved over the years like a truly great show does.

Peter Griffin has turned into a full blown moronic idiot with no depth that is now given one or two good jokes the entire show since all the other ones are used on McFarlane's side projects. Homer Simpson was an idiot sure, yet he had an aspect to him that was enduring and he wasn't made to be stupid 24/7 just for the sake of it. He could rise to the occasion and show a personal side that didn't seemed forced (Lisa's Wedding). When they try to show a humanistic side of Peter it just doesn't work well. They then have to throw a character like Herbert into the mix saying something absurd to sway you from the fact that Peter Griffin has no depth in any emotional situation.

Lois now has this "wild" past that is slowly being unveiled but yet it was done better with Marge Simpson like 10 years ago.

Brian became annoying and his character now comes across as a liberal douche for the sake of being a liberal douche.

Stuey can still be effective when the writers know how to use him. The homo-erotic angle is somewhat stale but is effective in small doses.

Meg and Chris are either pushed into the background or given the Lisa/Bart spotlight every once in a while. The episode where Meg finally has had enough and becomes a bully in a funny way was like the freshest writing I have seen in years. Sure it was Simpsonesque, but at least it was done well. We need more angles like this in FG.

Quagmire is like the only character who has sort of developed over the years. He is a full blown playboy/pervert/womanizer, yet when he in a vulnerable situation he reacts like a real person would. Honestly he is the one who should have had the spinoff over anyone.

Family Guy needs Quagmire. Without him, the show wouldn't be as good.

This is true. I was thinking that of all the neighbors Peter has (all three of them) Cleveland was probably the best spin off choice because he's the one who contributes the least and would be missed the least. Quagmire's sexhound antics tempered with his practical side is funny and Joe is always good for a handicapped joke (well, at least a half dozen more before we're scraping bottom of the barrel) but what does Cleveland have? "No, no, no, no, nooooo!"? It's funny, but they've already done it what, four times?
