I'd better hurry up and beat Morrowind and Oblivion so I'm not out of the loop for this one!

Well, I have Oblivion on my bookshelf and I've barely played it. I just seem to enjoy Morrowind more. Then again, I put off playing Morrowind so much because Daggerfall was awesome so I probably won't play this new one for at least 5-10 years.

Agreed, it'll be a while before I have a machine that can run whatever the fuck this is going to be.
IF it's just another Gamebryo engine game then fuck it, with Oblivion FO3 and New Vegas I've had enough Gamebryo.

I'm at the opposite end, I enjoy Oblivion a lot, while I have Morrowind sitting on my CD Spindle.
This looks promising but I'll likely wait because of the potential expansions and re-releases of the "gold" editions of the game, like I should have done with Fallout 3.

I'm strangely unexcited for this, and I don't know why. I've put way, way more hours of my life than I should have into Morrowind and Oblivion, so I should be first in line for this...
I guess I just liked Oblivion so much, but was so, SO frustrated by it's retarded, buggy nature that I'd rather have a game that returns to Cyrodiil PROPERLY, and let's me explore all of the towns, quests and ruins I love, without the insane load times and crashing that was such a part of the Oblivion experience.
Course I'll probably still end up buying this anyway, I'll just wait to read the reviews so I know what I'm getting first. Skyrim was never my favorite place anyway.

It is going to be on a new version of Gamebryo from what I understand.
I've never beaten Morrowind personally. It is weird because I start off intending to beat it and do well for a while before I suddenly wander off and start screwing around. I love that game so much. I did manage to beat Oblivion though before going crazy with mods. That game was enjoyable once you ignored the leveling system.

Hasn't there been rumors of this being an MMO?

Indeed, although it seems that has been exaggerated. This doesn't seem like an MMO to me.

As cool and possible an Elder Scrolls MMO COULD be, I have to agree that V shouldn't be an MMO but at least have one set in the world of Elder Scrolls...

I don't know about an MMO. Personally I'd rather they just stuck with single player with optional multiplayer similar to the way Fable 3 handles the multiplayer. I suppose it is inevitable though. I just haven't gotten into any MMO for very long after I quit EQ1, which I played for close to 5 years. If we could get away from WoW clones set in different universes, maybe I'd consider it.

I used to alway feel that Morrowind felt like an MMO that I was the only person playing. Very open, very huge world, and very empty and lonely.

I swear Bethesda has some sort of agreement with CPU and GPU makers. My last two upgrades were made just to play TES on my machines.
Time to start putting money away...

Please, please no multiplayer. I like my world of ES to be mine to explore on my own. I don't need teenage retards running around and fucking it up.

I agree with that too... I like to play Elder Scrolls in a certain way, like for example, sometimes I'm this ultimate evil bastard that kills everyone in sight without remorse... talk about destroying the game for other people if I'm in that kind of mood.

taken from the elder scrolls wiki
Previous announcements have stated that TES V would be built on a new version of the Gamebryo engine used in Oblivion and Fallout 3/New Vegas, but a Tweet from Bethesda Community Manager Nick Breckon stated, "We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic." A followup answer stated that the engine was "a new graphics/gameplay engine built internally" and that more details would be forthcoming.
no more gamebryo...

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

Yay! I read all the previous crap saying the "secret project" was going to be on a new version of Gamebryo and was a little sad. Now I'm happy that it will be on a new engine. Hopefully my computer won't have too many issues running it, because it is getting old.

Does this mean the XBox360 won't be able to play it?
