I'll pile on the Guilty Gear love. Best fighting soundtrack ever.
I don't like Ky, but I love his song.
One of the best tracks in the game, too bad it's so hard to get playing.
And honestly, since the soundtrack is one of the main reasons I'm replaying FFIX, I need to share some of them. Particularly the character themes, for some reason, stick out for me.
It's not really the -best- song in the game, but I still like it. And Freya is my favorite.
Unfortunately catchy. I hate Quina. But this song sticks in your head.
I really like this one. I can't tell you why, I just do. There's another version of it, where it kind of mixes in "Melodies of Life", which isn't as good, but it's a nice touch.
Ah, here it is:
And last:
Probably the best song in the game. Definitely one of the best uses of a song to set a scene.
Earthbound - Battle Against an Unsettling Opponent (SNES)
Silver Surfer - Level 2 (NES)
I also really enjoy anything done by the Konami Kukeiha Club or Koji Kondo, all of the Earthbound soundtrack, most of the Mega Man game soundtracks, the Super Mario RPG soundtrack, Chrono Trigger, Metroid series, Dragon Quest 1-4 and Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3.

Great comment, I feel the same way.
Also, I have said it before and I will say it again. Perhaps it may be a tad cliche, but Chrono Trigger has the best vg soundtrack of all time.

I have to agree with this too, but when the games are just as great as the music, it's like doubling the pleasure. Little Big Planet is the first one that come to mind

Toe Jam and Earl has amazing music Andrew man, and i agree as well, sometimes you dont remember the game but the awesome track that was in it. Off note: I never played Crono Trigger how is it
Base Music - Contra
Hall of Demons - Ninja Gaiden
Area 5 - Blaster Master
Shrine of Light - Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (at least something good came from a mediocre game)
Bubble Man Stage - Mega Man 2
Forest Music - Willow
Zeromus Battle - Final Fantasy IV
Foot Clan Base (Indoor) - TMNT
Start/Password Screen - Castlevania II
The Parasprinter - Ninja Gaiden II
Of course there are tons of great pieces. And you can really tell which systems I grew up playing.
