Just asking: why is it necessary that we have to make a request to change our names instead of being able to do so on our own within our profiles? (Not that I want to, I'm happy with mine) Was there some kind of en masse abuse of the feature in this forum's history or something? Or is it just what the forumers here feel is best for the forum?

Again, just curious, not complaining or anything. I couldn't care less about name changes.

Mostly because if people are constantly changing their names it's impossible to keep track of who is who.

I have never been on a forum where you were allowed to change your username at will.
