Well, what if THEY were dangerously stupid, or outright malevolent? It's definitely a possibility. |
We'd already be fighting them at this point? I dunno!

Sounds like you quoted a Black Sabbath Song.

Then we would probably get along with them cause they were just like the human race.

More like the premise of Doom.

Leaked.
No aliens, but a life-form that uses arsenic as the fundamental structure of its DNA instead of Phosphorus, showing that life has evolved from scratch on Earth at least twice and completely revolutionizing the definition of what is required for Life.

And yet, most people will say 'meh'. I think it's exciting, but I guess I'm easy to please?

This has nothing to do with the Bible, thank you very much.

That seals it, then. I predict that millions of Christians are going to have an uproar, despite this particular finding not directly contradicting anything in scripture.

I don't get it either, but then, just because I have to love my neighbor doesn't mean that I don't think he's a total literalist jackass.

I've heard it said that the Bible was never written as a scientific source and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to have their faith checked. No one's going to Hell just because they heard that God didn't make everything's DNA out of phosphorous or whatever.

Isn't this an organism found in a lake in California? Pretty neat stuff, I'd say. No need to be douchebags and make fun of Christians.

As a Christian myself, I'd say I don't think it was anyone's intent. I did put in a little fundamentalist bashing there, but I was primarily agreeing with the prediction that a lot of people who believe that the Bible is all literal truth and that nothing else is right are going to flip their lids. It wasn't my intent to be offensive (for once).

While I'm not a Christian myself, I can agree that it'll probably offend someone, somewhere. It's just the way things work anymore.
On the subject at hand, that's... that's fantastic. The fact that we've discovered an exception to the rule proves that organisms can be made from more than just a carbon base. Imagine something that really can live on a place like Venus! Or is made from radioactive material, like Uranium. This changes EVERYTHING.

Yeah, this wasn't as cool as I expected (and why was NASA involved? Was this an aaaaaaaaaaaaaalien fossil?), but still a neat discovery.

Arsenic Bug has a nice ring to it. Makes me want to whip out the X Buster on some Mavericks.

Dammit, NASA, don't get me all worked up until you find Turians, or at least a Trafalmadorian.
