Nice purchase.

I would invest in some surge protection for sure.
Maybe proper screen cleaning kit.
Obviously some surround sound would be sweet, but that's more of a luxury than a need.

If you have a Wii, you will have to get a new cable for that to get the picture to it's best, I would go the Amazon route for this though as stores have them well overpriced.

You need the following:

1. Cable box with HD Capabilities
2. Cable box with HDMI Output (Some only have component output)
3. HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 cable (1.4 cables are usually just labeled as "High Speed")
4. An HD Subscription with your cable company
5. An upconverting DVD player (Blu-ray players will work fine, including the PS3).
6. HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 cable for the DVD player (1.4 cables are usually just labeled as "High Speed")

Fortunately my cables DVR box is HDMI ready and with it most of the cable channels that broadcast in HD are availible.

What is a good cheap blu-ray player. I am aware I can google this but I am not sure if any of you have bought one before.

I am not convinced that a BluRay player is worth the investment, but if you are really going to get one, I would go for a PS3. At least then you get updates as the spec changes and you have access to other media features like Netflix on demand in HD.

Don't buy a HDMI cable from a B&M such as Best Buy. They are ripoffs. If you are paying more than $15 for the cable, you are paying too much. Check the local PC shops in your area for a better price. If that doesn't work, then buy one (or more) online from Newegg, NWCA, Amazon, etc.

If you have Comcast, call and ask if you can have one for free. They usually will just give you one.

I have an issue like that with my TV, do you permanently lose the signal or does it come back. What happens with my Plasma is when it loads a Regular DVD up (not a Blu-Ray) it has to search for the adequate signal which is 480, however it is usually set 1080i when I'm playing a game or watching a Blu-Ray. Sometimes the signal is lost and I have to switch from DVI to a different input back to DVI.

Definitely need to purchase some screen cleaner. I recommend the Monster brand, but anything with a spray and cloth is fine.

But yes, HDMI cables. Maybe an universal remote, since I know that my TV's stock remote blows. If you want to go far out in decking your TV out, you can get a Roku box if you don't have any video game systems. But I think you do, I only half read some of the posts above.

Plus, if any of you have any questions regarding this manner, feel free to PM me as I work for Radio Shack.

Thats like saying PM me I work at Wal-Mart. Wink
I think you may want to reset your systems configuration and then back again. My PS3 had to be reset twice before it stopped cutting out. For PS3 it was just holding the Power button until it beeped a second time after turning on, not sure what the Xbox Equivalent is or if there is one. Do you have multiple HDMI ports? If so test a different port.

Did you troubleshoot with a standard cable to see if it does the same thing?
