http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/11/28/wikileaks.attack/index.html?hpt=T1
tl;dr
They're going to publish another "cache of leaked U.S. diplomatic cables" tonight. Apparently some of it was already published today by NY Times and UK Guardian.
But, suddenly Wikileaks is now under Cyber Attack. The site is experiencing a distributed denial of service (DDOS), That's an effort to make a website unavailable to users, normally by flooding it with requests for data.
I'm pretty sure you guys all know how I feel about this shit. Who ever the new mole is should be hung by his feet and covered in fire ants. Fucking insane the amount of leaks that are coming through. But I honestly believe, its drawing more people into "leaking" information.

I'd love to read a summary of these reports, so I know exactly what they're leaking. This is morally wrong, and what Atma said.. fire ants lots of fire ants.

This caught my attention
Quote: |
CNN has not had advance access to the documents, unlike some media organizations, because the company declined to sign a confidentiality agreement with WikiLeaks.
|
So now, it really doesn't even matter if they shut wikileaks down because who knows how many people have access or prior knowledge of what's being leaked. If they leaked this shit to any of the vast amount of Independent news sources, then this shit is most likely being posted online already.
Crazy.

I'm out to go collect fire ants now.

I still don't get why they proudly announce that they're about to commit treason.

Pardon me if I sound stupid but I've never heard of WikiLeaks until now. What's that site all about?

People who have access to Classified Information leak it to this website who posts it for everyone in the world to see.

Most of it's typical shit, weapons deals between countries, Saudi Arabia wants war with Iran, certain world leaders are kinda paranoid....nothing special.
Oh and the US wants North Korea to stop existing. Forgot that part for some reason.

It's only treason if someone involved in the dissemination on WikiLeaks end is an American. They're an Australian organization, so no. I think it's great, honestly; you and I and the late Leslie Neilsen know damn well that the information we're seeing is only what people who have the real say WANT us to see.

Awesome! Let's call them terrorists and spend a decade and trillions of dollars looking for Julian Assange. Maybe while we're at it, we can try and fight a guerilla war against extremists who've had a history of repelling those sorts of things. Does Joe Biden get to shoot someone in the face and wait 48 hours before talking to police too?

So basically the government said some nasty things about a bunch of important people behind their backs and they didn't want anyone to know about it?
That seals it, then.

From the bits and pieces I saw on the news, it didn't seem to be anything too profound. Certain politicians don't like each other? Surely you jest. It seems like the PC skirt just got lifted for a quick snapshot.

As I understand it, they are releasing bits and pieces over the next several months, so more and more could come out over time. I could be wrong though, but I think I saw that somewhere.

I love how all of the news channels are going on about exactly what's in these documents that the government is desperate to keep controlled. It's like the Streisand Effect turbo edition.

Why can't Wikileaks put their powers to good use, like leaking video game and movie info before they're announced?

Have they leaked anything about JFK's assassination? I'd read that.

Let's be honest and say that the people defending WikiLeaks in this situation are far too simple minded to really understand any of the information being leaked. Some things are better left unknown to the uneducated masses. Seriously, sit on a knife.

I read somewhere that they snag all this stuff off of tor, you'd think the Government would have their own secure proxies for this kind of stuff.

As much as I concur, that's not...
