I dunno, If they didn't want people to see it, they could have easily moved their asses to the middle of the ocean and proceeded, but to do it 30-40miles off the coast of California? Your asking for trouble /if/ you wanted to keep it secret.

If you watch the video I linked to, a former NATO Ambassador speculated that it could be a show of power from a Submarine. From working with the Navy, EVERYTHING involving subs is VERY hush hush, especially Boomers (ones that can launch ICBMs)

This is the most troubling part about it to me too. When the military does something stupid it wants to incompetently cover up it makes up excuses, it doesn't disclaim knowledge. If you ever hear them say, "gee, guys, we don't know," that's probably a big clue that they actually don't know. I'd feel a lot better if they were claiming weather balloons or some obviously false explanation."
Which scares the bejesus out of me. This is like literally at my doorstep. I dunno Atma, you're the Sailor...any idea or experience with this kind of thing before?

If the government really doesn't know what's going on 35 miles from our coast in this post 9/11 world we live in than I might as well go break my neck right now, hardcore style. But I doubt that's the case.

I've seen Jets, and I've seen Missile Launches.
That looks like a Missile. Not some Optical Illusion Jet bullshit I hear them talking about now.
Again, Anything Involving Nuclear or ICBM Capable Submarines is EXTREMELY Hush Hush.
Fun Fact: The Only people who Currently know the Location of those SSBN's are the Sailors on board. NO one ashore knows there exact location, only the Box they Operate in unless they are up at Communications Depth.
