I didn't care too much for Sonic Rings. Just saying.
To be honest, I don't read reviews. I stopped giving a shit what critics have to say ages ago, when I realized that they're mostly dishonest and evil.

Going back to the 2600, I remember the version of Food Fight on there being really, really fun.

These just plain never bothered me back then. It would have been annoying if you were stopped and forced to Listen every time Navi had something to say, but that wasn't the case.

Yeah seriously, I never found her overtly annoying. I thought she was when I was told by the internet she was, but then I thought after reading your post "Yeah I never really found myself losing my mind over Navi."

Hey! Listen!
Seriously, which version of the game were you playing? I -was- stopped every time she had something to say. Or at least harassed. I think 1 in 4 times, her "Hey! Listen" actually stopped the game so she could tell me, if I wasn't actually doing what the game wanted me to do at the time.
Other than that, I found it a pretty useful tool.

Yeah, who could hate this:
Apparently, they love the character in Japan. There's actually a trope about this.

A game that instantly comes to mind is Home Alone for Game Boy, SNES, and (To a lesser extent) Genesis. They (Especially the SNES & Genesis versions) are almost universally panned on and offline, but I've always liked them, though none of them were worth full price even back then.

...And here I was thinking I was 'the only person who liked it!' LOL
Some other games are:
Cool World (SNES version)
Hook (SNES version)
Monster Party (Though I'm thinking there are a number of people who like this one, as well)
Rolling Thunder (NES version)--This game taught me almost everything I needed to know about insane '80s video game difficulty as a kid/teen, and improved my reflexes/reaction time, to boot. lol But really, I can't be the only person who likes(d) this game, can I?
Wrath of the Black Manta--Corny as it is, I played the hell out of this game as a kid.
The Simpsons: Bart Vs. The Space Mutants (The first level, anyway)
Various game-show video games (i.e. Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, etc.--WOF for Game Boy is strangely addicting in all its 1-bit glory.)
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (Boring, generic trite that it is)
Mortal Kombat 1 (SNES version)--Your guess is as good as mine.
X-Men Vs. Street Fighter & Marvel Vs. Capcom (PS1 versions)--Maybe I'm some kind of video game masochist. I mean, what else could explain this shit? Being able to chain super moves at the expense of dumbed-down, shitty gameplay that was almost nothing like their arcade versions?

Oh my god I loved the NES version of Hook! The controls were utter shit, but MAN was it fun!
Also on the NES, "Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six." AWESOME.

Hey, I loved Wrath of the Purple Manta.
Though having my bloodthirsty ninja assassin give me morals about drug abuse was a bit insulting.

Hey dude, the baddies he was slashing were probably on drugs, so it's OK right?

"Kids, don't do drugs cause they'll kill ya." He then proceeds to chuck a kunai at a drug dealer's head. "See?"

...Same here, though that still doesn't mean the premise of the game (At least) wasn't corny.

...That's why you 'Just Say No!' from the start.

Slightly off topic, but why does Batman on the NES have this reputation of being damn near impossible? Sure it's tough, but it's not Ghosts & Goblins tough. I've been picking it up on and off for the last few days and I'm definitely making progress, first the flying guys in the 1st level were a pain, but I figured out the pattern, then those fucking jumping frogs were killing me, but now they're not so bad. I'm sure I'll get to the end by the end of this week.

Batman's not that bad. It IS hard because of some enemy patterns and placements, and because of some really difficult jumps, but any game *I* could beat when I was a kid couldn't have been too tough.

In my opinion the awesome music makes up for any frustration the game brings to the table, be it due to poor utilization of the license, or cheap enemies / difficult jumps.

I'm happy that the game doesn't rely on the license much, especially considering that it would've been based off the original Batman movie, which sucked imo.

Speaking of acronyms, did anyone else grossly misunderstand the meaning of IANAL first time they saw it online?
