Because single words are easier to pronounce. It also feels more satisfying bringing a bunch of dudes under fire than a single guy. As Americans, we need to do all we can to feel like we're true citizens, regardless of actual outcome, because other True Americans always keep each other in check. That is the first civic duty. I don't know what all the whining is about, I'm pretty optimistic about how the new GOP controlled House & the President will do. Reagan had a Democrat controlled congress for most of his time as president, Clinton had a Republican controlled congress 6 of his 8 years as president, and most people regard those as being successful administrations. We should all know by now what happens when one party has control of all three houses, the 70's Democrats under Carter, the 2000s Republicans under Bush, and now in the Obama-Pelosi-Reid era.
