This kind of thing pisses me off. If I ever hear one more person tell me about how much more mature girls are than guys, I swear to god I'll rip their arms off.

I think you misunderstood me, ToG. I didn't mean it to imply that females are more mature; just that the male/female taste in entertainment happens to be almost perfectly divided on things like Three Stooges and Jackass.

If you want to twist it around the other way, females are entirely responsible for the nauseating tripe on the Lifetime channel. I just didn't see the need to bring something that up at the time, since it had nothing to do with the initial thread topic.

Art played a major part in evolving a little something called "moving pictures" which in turn led to the creation of movies and so forth. So, if it weren't for art, you wouldn't be able to watch Jackass in theaters in the first place...

Trying to arbitrarily decide what's useful for society and what's not is subjective at best.

Maybe everyone on the forum could kick Jeebus in the nuts and he can make a million dollars, too!! It's THAT easy.

God I hate Lifetime...

Back onto the topic of Jackass and women/girls; my wife always says that Jackass is so dumb, but when I turn it on and she watches it for a few minutes I always see her laughing her face off. I think it is more appealing than most females would like to admit. The inverse would be if I walked in and my wife was watching a chick flick that I secretly liked but always said I hated... wait, I mean... I hate all chick flicks... forever... cause I'm a man! Damn it...

If a donkey is a jackass, would that make Donkey Kong Jackass Kong?

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

It might not make lives easier, but at it's best (and sometimes, admittedly, at it's most pretentious), it can provoke thought, and thinking is just something society doesn't seem to do enough of.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

The way I look at, Jackass is the kind of that doesn't require much thought. I mean, it's along the same lines in vulgarness and stupidity as say, South Park. It is either the kind of show you like, or the kind of show that disgusts you. Eitherway the bottom line is if your thinking about it that much, then your obviously missing the point.

In fairness to Dr. J, as harsh as this is...yeah.

I think Jackass is like the Three Stooges: the liking of it divides almost perfectly along gender lines. Males can't get enough, females just groan.

"But Hawk," you ask. "Are you implying that Dr. Jeebus is secretly Syd's *sister*?"

Yes. Yes I am. This Is A Joke

You compared Jackass to the Three Stooges? I don't know that we can be friends anymore. Disorder in the Court is 11 of the funniest minutes of entertainment ever produced.

And Jackass is 95 of the funniest minutes I've ever seen. A lot of people liked the Three Stooges. Similarly, a lot of people like Jackass. They're admittedly extremely different, but at their heart, they're both slapsticks. A bunch of guys getting into weird situations and punching the shit out of each other or something... It's just that one of them is much more stupid and intentional.

Also, I retract my statement about art. I agree, it makes our lives better, but I meant in terms of comfort and ease.

There's a LOT more to the stooges than slapstick. The slapstick is the least funny part of Disorder in the Court, as a matter of fact.

I for one, hate Jackass. But I love the Three Stooges. My sister and many girls I know like the Three Stooges. My sister also loves Jackass, so I don't go along with the idea that most or all girls think a certain way.

And comparing the Stooges to grown men who staple their nutsack to their legs. Hell, I'll even go so far as to say that Tom Green is a comic genius compared to the Jackass fucks.

Jeebus is right on the Stooges. A lot of the earlier Stooge shorts didn't have all that much slapstick. The part in Disorder in the Court where Curly is "swearing in" is fucking amazing.

Watched it on Friday, my first 3D movie ever. Throat was sore from me laughing too much. Though compared to the first two Jackass movies it seems a little "controlled" to me than the "untamed" feeling of the first two. Also, goddammit we need spoiler tags.

Also around the females I know love/hate of Jackass is actually split evenly down the line. Hell, a good amount of them saw it before me (i.e. opening weekend)

This.

I guess all I can say is that while it's stupid and extremely pointless, there are still people (myself included) who can find it funny. Nuff said.

Interesting GP. Speaking for myself, I've watched Jackass (not much, but I was curious about it when it first started getting popular) and found nothing appealing about it. Neither have any of my female friends. But, that's just my experience.

Well, right now, the only female opinions I have on the matter are my wife's and my sister's, and both of them were eager to see Jackass.

Though, my sister loves the Stooges, my wife does not. I think this is grounds for a divorce.

Saw it yesterday, it definitely had some hilarious parts, but all in all there was a lot more cringe worthy stuff than funny stuff. For every crazy dangerous stunt there's double the amount of 3d wieners, puking, and shitting. If they'd tone back the wieners shitting and puking it could have been really really funny, but no it was just gross and disturbing. I'm going to punch Dave England in the face so hard if I ever meet him.

I saw this move already and thought it was good old fashioned stupid fun. The kind of stupid things you might do as a kid, but not film it and show everyone Razz

I like it for what it is, it's not social commentary, an intended mind fuck movie, or a slanted message derived from a Director's biases. It's what it is, and it does it great.

I walked away feeling like the underlying msg to the movie was that I was a Jackass for paying to see it and they were laughing all the way to the bank.

Look, you're paying $10 to see stupid people to do stupid things to themselves. It's really no different than watching Youtube, except more expensive and in 3D. Besides, it's a basic human need to laugh at stupid people hurting themselves. The whole "It's funny til it happens to you" phenomena, coupled with "it'll never happen to me, therefore it's funny", unless you're inclined to tie bottle rockets to your cock.
