Long story short: An American soldier found an envelope on a dead Japanese soldier in Iwo Jima containing some children's drawings. For no apparent reason, he kept them. Many years later, the man's second wife encourages him to try and find the children who drew them. And he finally did, two years ago, through the Japanese embassy. This week, he visited the eldest sister in Japan.

I wonder what it was like to visit a country for the first time in 65 years. I imagine it wouldn't be much different for someone who had never been there before, except with the anticipation of things being a lot shinier than before.
