Always An En-EE-Ess and An Ess En-EE-Ess. I think the first time I heard someone pronounce it "Ness" is when Adam Sesler pronounced it like that on X-Play. I thought it sounded retarded.

And fuck X-Play.

I've always pronounced it "En-Ee-Ess." It's an abbreviation, so it must be more correct.

On a side note, I've always called the Super Nintendo either an "Ess-En-Ee-Ess," or a "Super En-Ee-Ess."

En-Ee-Es

No one knows what I'm talking about if I say "Ness", or "Sness".

Most people I've talked to in person about the console pronounce it "Ness"; the thing is, these same people haven't played one at least in the last decade.

I pronounce it "en-eee-ess".

Wow. I thought it was usually pronounced "a NES". Guess I'm actually the minority.

Must be a Missouri thing. Cam says he hears it like that, and you pronounce it that way.

I hardly ever hear people call it anything but a Nintendo (Occasionally with a qualifier) when talking in person. I only use NES when talking on the internet, and the only people I know who call it an NES speaking are people who spend a lot of time on the computer. *shrug*

Interesting.

At least it's not a terrible habit like those few people who call our state 'Mih-Zir-Uh'.

Yeah, thinking on it more...I almost always hear it referred to as just "Nintendo", and that's what I call it. Online I may go with "NES"...but even then if I were to say it out loud it would be En Ee Es.

I always just say 'Nintendo'. If I call it an 'NES' everyone just assumes I'm a mega-nerd.

Yeah, back in the day, it was always "playing Nintendo". Now that there's different Nintendo systems, it's NES.

When someone asks what I'm playing, if they follow up by asking what system it's on, if it's a Wii game, I always say Nintendo instead of Wii.

I think that, in answering your question, it has to be En Ee Ess. But, Ness is acceptable in long or fast sentences.

I think when you are in our age range (late teens-early 30s), you can say "playing nintendo" and not be confused about the other systems.
