Funny that FO:NV should include that "hardcore mode" with ammo weight, hunger and whatnot. The first mods I ever installed for FO3 did exactly that. S'really immersive.

But yeah, I'm tired of hearing the same 3 guys and 2 women Bethesda hires for their voiceovers ._.

It's too late now because you haven't been PAYING ATTENTION.

OK so I've been playing Fallout 3 ever since it came out, but never played the main quest since i heard it ends the game, usually I would try to get all the side quests out of the way and just explore around.

I sat down to beat the final quest out of boredom a few days ago and beat it last night, and all I have to say is:

RETARDED!

Why the hell couldn't Fawkes go in to the chamber for me? He didn't have a problem getting the G.E.C.K. from a radiation clogged room!

God the main quest was boring stupid and too quick.

He/She can with an expansion, as can another party member. It allows the game to continue.

It's supposed to be a heroic sacrifice kind of thing man. Yeah, it sucks that you can't keep playing without Broken Steel, but it's not really retarded storywise. Unless you've been playing an evil character, in which case it kinda doesn't make sense why you'd sacrifice yourself.

And as for hardcore mode, how is that more immersive exactly? Oh yeah, I can really enjoy the game more when I'm constantly looking for food because I'll die without it and I'm constantly overburdened by my fucking ammo. Like yeah, that's how it would be in real life but guess what? It's a video game! Why not just take out all the super mutants and monsters while we're at it because that would make it WAY more realistic!

I dunno, I kind of stick to that rule myself, don't carry more ammo / weapons than I think I could, makes it much more immersive and makes it feel like you're struggling to survive, as apposed to being a god at level 14 mowing down anything in your path with your selection of laser gatling AK Steam Rifle Plasma Rifle 50 grenades sawed off shotty and magnum.

You can still carry all that shit at 14, but you're no god with it. You'd at most be focused on one gun type and probably still not be that great with it.

I know there is an "anyone excited for" thread. But its out now. So here we are.

Anyone started playing this yet? I got home from GameStop yesterday, cracked open my Collectors Edition PS3 copy, and dove in. I played for 9 straight hours.

I'm hooked.

New cooking/crafting skills, Factions, and Hardcore mode where you have to sleep, eat, and drink or you'll die from sleep depravation, hunger, or dehydration.

Its not as "barren" as FO3, always running across something new to check out instead of miles of walking through hills and barren fields.

Main story so far seems "eh" but who gives a shit with the 20,000 other things to do.

Got mine yesterday from Amazon, cracked it open but the wife was on the PS3 all night beating Heavy Rain. Today is the day though.

So it's out and apparently buggy as hell. Naturally, the PC gets a fix, but console users have to wait for MS and Sony's bullshit before it can function right.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

A couple of reviews said it was buggy, and they also said it was amazing. So you can save often and enjoy a great game, or wait for the patches and enjoy it later.

One thing I do like about what I've seen is the weapons. Using real-world weapons like Garands and break-open shotguns give that cool, real post-apocalypse feel. I found all of the locations in Fallout 3 using only The Kneecapper, lever rifles, and the Xuanlong rifle. I'll probably pick this up when I get a little more spare scratch.

I have noticed its buggy, and yes, SAVE OFTEN. Because you never know when its going to Lock up, or when a trigger to end a quest or something doesn't work. With that being said...

This game is still fucking awesome. Every moment of gaming I've had since I've owned it, has been Fallout: NV.

But sure can't wait for those patches....

Yeah, keep a backup save because both myself and my roommate have had it hang endlessly on the loading screen a couple times, essentially corrupting that save. But if you played 3 and Oblivion, you probably already do that anyway. Other than that, I've noticed there's a "vertical hold" bug that makes your hands and weapon disappear off the bottom of the screen, only to have them come sliding back down from the top over and over. I also can't jump over some low, clearly passable obstacles. I don't know if that's the programmers being over zealous about where you can go or what but it's annoying to not be able to clear a foot high ledge when you've been climbing over mountains all day.

These are all minor complaints though really, the game is awesome and I imagine it will eat up just as much of my life as 3 did.
