If I was in rule, it would take about a week to kill 'em, and cost me 25 cents for the real killing.

As of 2009, 138 people have been released from death row since 1973. Using your system, 138 innocent people would been killed, meaning you killed more innocent people than any actual murderer*. Congratulations.

Anyways, I am against the death penalty. That is pretty much all I have to add that hasn't already been said.

* I don't know any cases of murder that tally more than 10, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
More than ten?

I think Pedro Lopez killed a couple hundred people.

Huh, forgot about him. Posting when tired makes me forget middle school report then. Probably should stop doing that.

This one I just didn't know, and seeing as wikipedia* lists his killings between 53 and 300, I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

*Yes, not the best source, but hey, research clearly isn't my strong point.

I came in here to post what Klim said, but he beat me to it.

I'm fine with capital punishment, but in this economy, I prefer the cheap solution. I don't consider lethal injection any worse than the idea that you're in prison for life. Some inmates would actually prefer the death penalty. Without question though, I don't believe in rehabilitation in most cases, maybe a prison program, where you're allowed to work to teach juvenile delinquents or something.

That said, I did know Wanda Jean Allen, who was the daughter of a lady who used to babysit me and go to my church. She was the first black woman to be executed in the US in 50 years.

The life or death of a person is not something we should be putting a dollar sign on.

Capital punishment should be right or wrong regardless of the pricetag.

Yeah, I did start my post with "moral implications aside" for that reason. I think it's wrong. Others have used the financial argument to justify killing people. I was pointing out the error in that argument.

To me, it depends on the circumstances, however if the inmate is going to abuse the system with useless appeals, then I'd rather he spend the rest of his days in his cage. It's a touchy subject all around, I only mentioned a dollar sign because I don't like paying for drawn out BS.

Anyone know statistics of remorse shown by those who serve life compared to those who are executed? From what I've heard, most people who are put to death show no remorse.

They should bring back gladiator combat in an arena, to the death, and put it on prime time network TV. That could be the new death row. Let them survive as long as they can, for our entertainment. Then all that money being wasted would be made back plus more in profits.
