Yeah the episode itself was good but WHY? of all the flavors of the month that have come and gone during the Simpsons 20 year run why do they do this now?
They can redeem themselves easily...Mr Burns Weapon of Choice opening.

I have the episode on DVR and won't get to see it until tonight. Still, I watched the intro and I have to say, it was fun.
Why does it need to be memorable? It is a single intro to an episode. They have hundreds of those, this one was unique and different, and that makes it interesting.
Next week you'll get something else, I hope that it is something different, because that way I won't get bored.

Honestly, I'm not seeing the problem. It's well animated, it's not permanent, it's part of a musical theme week Fox is doing, it was pretty clever and well done.
I think the real complaint is "I don't like this song"
