Monitor messed up

Long story short my monitor got hit toward the bottom of the screen, and now the whole LCD monitor turned white. I used it for years on that computer, I tried switching cords in some dire hope that the cord is messed up to no avail. The light at the bottom is green showing the poor is on, and that it should be displaying the material. I feel something fundamental happened as the whole screen is white, nothing i can see is really wrong with the area that was hit. I think I'll need to open up the monitor to deal with this, for now i'm letting it sit, and see what happens after a few hours. I'm guessing i'll still have a white screen.

It's a 19 inch LCD monitor X2gen had it for years worked great up until when it got hit. Didn't even have a single dead pixel after 5 and a half years. I use the VGA port,,, I'm pretty confident nothing happened to the graphics card, but I haven't tried using the monitor on another computer yet. I'm 98% sure it's the monitor since it got hit lol.

Any help or expertise in this area would be much appreciated. I'll likely youtube a video on how to take apart a screen tomorrow if things haven't improved. Thanks for the help.

It's very probable your display is dead. Sorry to hear that.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.

It didn't knock it over, but it got hit in the bottom center. The buttons still work on it, and it registers being plugged in. It's just the screen is all white lol.... I know something internally is wrong with it, but i expected just those pixels that got hit to be messed up but that's not the case, they look the same as any of the other pixels. I'll try to do some research but surprisingly the top few google results really didn't answer the issue, might check youtube and just open it up and mess around with it... kinda sucks... oh well. Have to use a energy consuming, massive CRT for now.

Edit:
I looked online and for this problem it's usually a capacitor that went bad, but for my case I don't think so. The internal structure looks pretty sturdy from the videos i've seen, but i can only hope a capacitor got dislodged. If that's the case i may need to re sodder it into it's rightful place. I have nothing to lose at this point...

Crash go boom means broken.

You most likely dislodged metal from the silicon somewhere and the broken connection in that specific place is nearly invisible to your eyes.

It is time for a new monitor.

If you insist on taking it apart, have fun, be careful not to have it powered on while it is taken apart.

Thanks, that's probably the reason the only fix I saw online were capacitor related issues. Thanks if i'm bored i'll open it up. Ya it's been unplugged and laying on my couch for 12 hours now. So sad.. such a faithful monitor.

P.S. NEVER FUCKING OPEN A CRT. EVER.

EVER!

No, seriously, you'll die unless you know what you are doing... even if it is unplugged. Even if it hasn't been plugged in for like half a year. Ok... I warned you... now you are dead... see what you did there. You should have listened.
