Okay, I'm finishing up my Evil Zone stuff, and I'm thinking about what's next. It's probably gonna be a long-term one, and I'm putting the choice out to you guys. Please read this before you vote for something, what I say about the game may change your mind...yeah, I know polls suck, but it seemed like the best way.
I also know all of these games have been done to death.
In no particular order.
Final Fantasy IV - My favorite of the Final Fantasy games, and I happen to know a lot about it. I would either be doing the Chronicles version, or the GBA "Advance" version, most likely the former. The biggest thing against it...I don't know if I feel like playing it right now.
Final Fantasy IX - This is the "I am completely fucking insane" option. I've been feeling a bit like starting this up again, it's probably my second-favorite one, and there's a big plus - I absolutely LOVE the music in the game. The downsides, of course, are that it would be HUGE and require a ton of editing, but I think it can be done.
Link's Awakening - A really fun game, and a freaking masterpiece of the Game Boy. Not sure if I would do the original, or the DX version.
Shining Force II - I don't know this one nearly as well as I do the first, and I also don't like it nearly as much. And I would feel guilty starting this without finishing the commentary on Shining Force first. Still, it's been requested quite a bit, and it's a fun enough game.
Chrono Trigger - Everyone knows and loves this game, right? Another one I'm very familiar with, and of course I'd be earning all the endings. The SNES version is harder for me to record, and the PSX version helps me keep track of the endings...but still the load time on the PSX version means I probably wouldn't use it.
If you guys have any comments or any other suggestions, please feel free to drop them off here. Thanks for your input, guys.

You may. And I should clarify, the main reason I don't want to do the DX version is I hate the "color dungeon".

Link's Awakening. Played it to death when I was young, even though I couldn't get anywhere for some time.
It's main problem is that there are a few ways to make the game unwinnable (like that damn 8th dungeon ). I think it'd be nice if you could find and point them out.

That was the one with the balls you throw around to break the pillars, right?
Oy, I did not like that dungeon. The boss in particular sucked.

I think I'll vote for Chrono Trigger. I have only played the first 10% or so of the game, and it would be very fun to watch with your commentary.
My next choice would be Final Fantasy IX because a friend raved about it, yet I haven't even seen the game in action.
I'm sure whatever you pick will be great!

No, that's the 7th. The 8th would be the one like a Fire Temple with fire and lava everywhere, and that fireball boss that jumps in lava and is weak to fire.
If you try to get the dungeon item too soon the dungeon can become unbeatable. You need three keys, and if you only have two but try anyway, you won't have any way to get any more.

Link's Awakening was the first Zelda I beat, and definitely one of my favorites. I'd love to see you go through it. I'd recommend the DX version as it looks better, but either way this is my pick.

I would also suggest Link's Awakening DX. Yes, I hated the color dungeon just like everyone else (fuck you crystal ball-esque boss) and I also got stuck on the game breaking issue in the 8th dungeon, but I loved the crap out of it because It was the first mildly challenging game I played on Game Boy (I played red version second, which I felt was actually harder).
Out of curiosity, did anyone else just lose their temper and break down and went after the Crystal Ball thing and not care about strategy because it regenerated health, or was that just me?

I dunno, it seems that Chrono Trigger is definitely more popular, but that's kinda the problem. Once you have played it a couple times, gotten all the endings and what not you really don't have the desire to watch someone else play it. Links Awakening is infinitely more entertaining to watch, I would think, since I'm sure it hasn't been done as much.

Pretty much seconded, I worked my butt off and got every ending on the DS version so it'd be nothing new. Link's Awakening is a game I have a much more vague memory of. I do recall hating throwing those Knight statues until the heads were both upright.

I fucking love Final Fantasy IV. I voted for it, Only because I would love to see someone else play it and if you could actually get the Adamantite Armor
I wouldn't complain at all about seeing Link's Awakening either though. I remember as a kid trying to dig up tons of Sea Shells.

If I do end up doing Chrono Trigger, any preferences of the SNES version vs the PSX version? Are long load times worth anime cutscenes?

I voted for FF IX, because its one of my favorite games of all time. However, I would also be more than pleased to see a Chrono Trigger walkthrough.
If you do play CT, I say go SNES all the way. Keep it simple, keep it classic. Plus (at least for me) the cut scenes they added really kind of killed the mood of the game; they feel really jarring. Cool, but I think SNES would serve you better in a walkthrough.

Watch all the cutscenes on youtube, act them out with cheap homemade puppets and film it, then sync it in to your SNES walkthrough!

That has got to be the best idea I have ever heard... Either make sock puppets or Popsicle stick puppets
