The man who wins the Nobel Peace Prize can turn into a dragon and kills people on a regular basis. What did Obama do to win such an awesome prize?

Deliberately egging China seems like a bad idea, but oh my GOD, that is quite possibly the best way to piss them off.

Let's hope that, if we continue stuff like that, it doesn't turn into a full out war. Although I doubt even the Chinese are that crazy.

.. Scratch that, they probably are.

The thing about China is that there's very little they could to do to America, other than obliteraing Hawaii and some outlying territories or attacking Japan. If they attempted to invade mainland America, we'd be able to blow up most, if not all, of the incoming ships and planes with long range missiles and counter any long-range missiles they sent at us.

Furthermore, the vast majority of the Western world would LOVE an excuse to go to war with China. China's exponentially growing economy, coupled with its complete lack of any love of God and our human rights, has a lot of countries running scared. If China were to initiate aggression against the West, the West would band together, bomb them back to the Stone Age, and then send them a bill for all the bombs we had to waste on them. And that bill, conveniently enough, would be equal to or greater than however much we've borrowed from them.

In other news, Germany just finished paying off its WWI reparations a few days ago.

So: Since yesterday, no one has seen Liu Xia, the wife of Liu Xiaobo. No one is able to contact her and her phone was disconnected. The police has surrounded her home on Thursday and she wasn't allowed to leave her home to visit her husband in prison.

Today, her lawyer announced that she has disappeared and it is probable that she was arrested.

Liu Xia? Liu Xiaobo? I know what happened here. See how similar their names are? Clearly Liu Xia was just Liu Xiaobo using day passes from prison in drag. The Chinese government is unhappy with the Prize announcement and has revoked his day passes. MYSTERY SOLVED.

What about China devaluing the dollar into nothingness? Or is that just some propaganda my roomie is spouting off.

If China really tried to do that, most countries, including Japan, probably wouldn't give a fuck. The world is just waiting for a shot to tell China to go fuck themselves. Besides, the US could always do something really radical and say, "Yeah, you know what? We don't owe you shit." It'd make a lot of trouble for a while, but there's not really China can do but again, try and go after us militarily. They could also try and use fiscal leverage against us, but a lot of other countries, again, would tell them to go pound sand.

That and the fact that many US citizens are armed and ready to go would make invading the US that much more retarded, I really don't think we have anything to worry about anytime soon...

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

All the citizens who aren't armed would be sitting around twittering about the invasion and watching invasion related mishap clips on youtube.

China, pfffft. When it comes to the Chinese Army, they are rocking the "quantity over quality" thought. Ten millions poorly trained conscripts in 70's era Cold War equipment just won't be able to cut it if they decide on any type of aggression.

Free Tibet? Laughing

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

I'm confident in America, I think China will be undergoing some cultural revolutions in the near future. That will change a lot of things.

If we get rid of our internal corruption, revamp our schooling system, invest in our strengths. I think America will do great.

I don't think this would happen like that. If we didn't honor our debt to China we'd be in massive trouble, our credibility with other nations would go way down. Honestly, I think they would force us to pay it or threaten to not trade with us. If we did that to them who knows down the line what we might do to another country. It would have devastating reputation. No realistic way to get around it, and we shouldn't try to. We owe them what we owe them. I agree, we would find some repayment plan compromise if they try to "cash in" all at once.

I can almost guarantee that I'm parroting another forum member here, but why would they ever demand full repayment all at once? They lose a lot of leverage and influence by doing just that, so what's the point? To quote the chess master Aron Nimzowitsch, "The threat is stronger than the execution."
