Well, only one nuclear site, but it's still true.

Citizens of Nevada, you can now relax. The Nevada National Security Site, home to tens of millions of cubic feet of low-level radioactive waste — and location of over a thousand Cold War nuclear weapons tests — is now being guarded by robots. The first of a planned trio of Mobile Detection Assessment Response Systems, or MDARS, is currently patrolling some of the more remote sections of the 1,360 square mile facility.

More in the link.

I have no doubt they probably *already* patrol Area 51. It just hasn't been announced, what with the place not existing and all. Rolling Eyes

I wonder how long its going to be before some idiotic tourist gets zapped by one of these things.

Between robot guards and robots that have for some idiotic reason been taught to decide when it's in their best interest to lie, I'd say we're well on our way to being fucked.

Man, when I read this I imagined like three-legged, one-eyed jumping robots with machine guns mounted on their bodies, not lame short bus Hummers. Science needs to catch up to science fiction already.
