Sounds like a good deal might hop on that. Though I was wondering do you recommend the Home Edition of Windows 7, is there any real downside with that version compared to the others? Secondly, I have 3 computers 2 with Windows XP 32 bit edition, and one is completely from scratch, i'm building a new one, would I be able to use this upgrade on all 3 of them, or do i have to have a prior version of windows on the new PC?

Hopefully it'd work on all 3, but as long as it works from XP to Windows 7, I'll probably end up buying this, thanks for the post.

The only real differences between the home version and the ones above it are in security and networking features (file encryption, etc.) that most home users will likely not need if they aren't power users. As for me, the only reason I went with Professional is for its terminal server.

Home Premium should be fine for the majority of users.

If you don't understand the differences between versions, you won't miss the features that the upgrades have.

Thanks, I'll do some reading on their site they keep using the word upgrade so I need to verify that i don't have to have a older version of windows on the computer for them to work.

The only thing you need to know is that the Starter version is not for you if you're on this forum.

This. I have Windows 7 Home Premium and it's fine for my needs (Web, Email, the occasional game, etc).

I haven't bothered to look at the differences between versions, mainly because I got the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade DVD for free with my Acer laptop (That ran Vista Home Premium before upgrading).

Who actually uses the Starter version anyway?

People who buy net-books that have it installed.

It is fine for anyone who needs a computer without choices. Honestly, it is about as useful as Chrome OS will be.

So, by that measure, if you are on this forum and you happen to have a netbook with Starter, this website will work just fine.

On the other hand, don't buy Starter thinking it will work well on a desktop, because it won't, it wasn't made for that.

I meant that if you're savvy enough to even know about this website and post on the forum, odds are that the Starter version is too light for you.
