THQ has announced something pretty cool today, and I’m not talking about their promise not to release anymore mediocre titles. I’m talking about uDraw Studio. This game comes with a drawling tablet, and that’s almost if not as cool as the Mario Paint mouse back on the Super Nintendo.
This $70 add-on accessory uses the WiiMote to power itself and is approximately 9 inches wide and 7 inches long. It will allow you to draw and sketch objects as well as play games similar to “Pictionary”; which is said to be released as an add on title at around $30. The tablet will come packaged with an art-based game, “uDraw Studio,” when it goes on sale sometime around the holiday season.

Is it me, or does this seem like THQ is breaking their promise?
The last thing that the Wii needs is a drawing tablet. It has an onscreen pointer functionality that allows for drawing. In fact, drawing using a Wiimote seems more fun for Pictionary than on a tablet.

Heh, that part of the article was actually a hyperlink about how they're not even bothering to break away.

I've been wanting a tablet for awhile. $70 is quite affordable, and if they allow you to export your drawings to the SD card as hi-res BMP files, I'll be all for this.
THQ isn't so bad. You want a company that churns out almost nothing put crap? Look at Ubisoft. Ubisoft releaseds a handful of B-List titles every year and then complete garbage.

BMP files? Really? If they even put in such a function, it would most likely export low-res JPEG files. And you'd be better off with PNG file exports rather than BMP files, which are huge.

I always found using the Wiimote to draw difficult (Photo Channel). I'm all for the tablet.

Have you tried Okami on the Wii? I'm curious how it handles with all the drawing you do in it..

Oh yeah, Scott pilgrim freezes constantly and has glitched achievements. Totally ubisoft.

It took some getting use to, but I never found it a hindrance. I enjoyed the game quite a bit on Wii.
