Been MIA a bit, but not ignoring y'all; I got in a pretty bad car accident on the freeway a couple days ago. I and the other drivers are okay, we all walked away and everything, but my poor, beloved and faithful old truck was KIA. Crying

went out like a champ saving my ass though. Don't have any money to buy a new car anytime soon though...not til May at least (I know what my commissioning bonus is going towards.) Til then I'm stuck with our old POS van which, while I'm thankful I have transpo, has no working sound system. I spend a ton of time in my car going between places, and that means no music or podcasts anymore. I *hate* this shit.

Man, bad luck is just swirling around these parts over the past few days. You losing your car, Syd losing his job, that one guy whose name I can't remember's girlfriend losing her driver side window. I hope you get a new car soon, good luck until then. Maybe you can bring a portable radio or something on the way.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Hawk, but at least everyone is okay. Hooray for survival! I hope everything works out for you, and good luck on the way to getting a new vehicle!

You can get MP3 players (and I don't mean fucking iPods) for pretty cheap these days SH, and they can easily replace a sound system. If you're worried about safety, you can get a speaker dock or just use one earbud which is fine if you're only listening to podcasts.

Hawk, I am happy to hear that you are ok.

Bad car accidents are scary and I am sorry that you had to experience one. I hope that your situation improves with your replacement vehicle and that life can get back to a reasonable norm for you.

Things have settled, well kinda; got a major school project out of the way which was weighing on me a lot, and the jitters from the accident are dying down. These are positive things. I hearby write myself a prescription for more time on the forums and in the chat, and a rollicking D&D session tomorrow night Very Happy

Glad your ok! So whose fault was it? Are they ok? Did they have insurance? And assuming they were at fault, are you planning on suing them into the ground?

So happy to hear that you're alright. There's gotta be a cheap solution to fix your sound system issues. My car's going to go to hell soon too. Multitude of problems.

This. Does the car lighter work? Here's the ghetto shit my friend had rigged up when his car stereo blew:
You can get a lighter attachment that has two regular outlets. (It may have been one outlet and a splitter). He used a CD player cause this was years ago, but you can plug an ipod into one outlet, then plug in a set of computer speakers (2 speaker set, not 5.1 surround or anything obviously) into the other outlet and into the ipod/CD player.
