Next week, Dragon's Lair Trilogy for Wii is hitting store shelves. Along with the original classic Dragon's Lair, which has been ported to almost every system ever since its release in one form or another, you get the less seldom seen Dragon's Lair 2 and Space Ace. All three games have been remastered. Retail is $30.

Is it gonna be an emulation of the crazy laserdisc version, or that horrible nes platformer?

It's going to be remastered ports of the original Laserdisc versions. So the animations have all been cleaned up, like when Disney does that restoration comparison in their DVD commercials.

Huh, that's interesting. I remember seeing that shit in the arcade when I was a kid and whatever it was being held captive (a princess?) decay into a skeleton and it scared the shit out of me.

Dirk is the one who decays if you fuck up enough times. They're not gonna show it happening to Daphne. That's just insane.

Daphne's voice makes me want to murder myself. Anyways, I have the first one on my DSi, and will most likely buy this to have the other two games as well.

Well, I have the first one on my DSi. I might give that disc a go.
I wish I were a little older, because that game must've been really popular back then, and has been gaining a growing cult following in recent years.

I don't know if "popular" is the right word. It was an expensive machine and it was prone to disc-sync issues that required services calls, so it wasn't as omnipresent as something like Pac-Man that was cheaper and less prone to breaking. It was a big deal though. Don Bluth was a well-known and respected animator when the game came out and this was going to be the future of gaming. As we all know, it wasn't, but it's still pretty iconic.

Unsurpassed graphics all the way up until the release of Mortal Kombat is a one-of-a-kind claim.

Pretty sure Mad Dog McCree came before Mortal Kombat.

It was a live action game from 1990. It was released in a compilation for the Wii back in June along with Mad Dog McCree II and The Last Bounty Hunter. All three are ridiculously campy light gun games.

Pushed back to 9/28 for reasons unknown.
I hope this doesn't end up being vaporware.
