I always hated holding the remote sideways. The uneven profile makes it awkward after only five minutes. I don't understand how anyone rationalized it as similar to a NES controller. NES controllers didn't have a battery pack throwing the weight and shape balance completely off and pea-sized buttons. If someone would release a third-party remote that's actually shaped like an NES controller for the sole purpose of sideways handling (with an internal battery), I would get that in a second. Maybe it could be shaped like the late-model SNES-style one so that the A and B buttons could be next to 1 and 2.

Brawl is the best-selling title on the Wii and its motion control is both minimal and optional.
