Do not exit the vehicle!!!
I haven't gotten to them on a second play through yet, but I can definitely tell you that my biggest issue on my first play through was being run over by bandits. I had plenty of shields and health, plus I am playing as Lilith, so the action skill is pretty much a savior... but not if you get instantly smashed.
I will say that I think one of my favorite parts of the game is when you reach an important NPC, friendly or hostile, they get a fun little art splash screen. Those always made my day.

I played this into the ground. Level 61 hunters and have my Sniper, Pistol and SMG proficiencies maxed out. Got some great gear as well.
BZ, use real powerful SMGs against the drifters, they work real well, or snipe them from afar. GP, the vehicles aren't really necessary for the Drifters, get a powerful SMG and blast near their weak points, I can usually take one down in like 5 seconds using that method.
I am real stoked about the new DLC coming next month, an increase in level cap and some other goodies.
Also Gearbox announced a game of the year edition for $50 that will include the game and all of it's expansions coming next month, if you haven't played this great game I would wait until then.

Ok, First playthrough, First Character, I'm lvl 28 as Mordecai. Just killed Krom so thats where I'm roughly at in the game.
I don't have horrible gear, I don't think. I mean I hold my own. But, my question is, where is there a good place for me to Farm/Find some better gear?
Right now I use that chest in the badlands, if you start at where you get off the bus at, jump in a car, hawl ass for a little while west there is a few walkways with a bunch of raiders. The Red Chest in there seems to have decent stuff in it most of the time.
Also second question, Do all Red Chests have the same chance of dropping good gear? Or are there certain chests that have a better % to drop rares? I know there are for sure bigger ones in the DLC but I'm no where close to that stuff yet.

I have never farmed for gear. I think mine is good, not great, but it complements my play style. I upgrade as I find new stuff but rarely ever buy anything unless it is a primary weapon type.
More important than any gear is the skill point placement and weapon proficiencies.

For the most part, there are some fucking ridiculous guns out there though.
Also, buying gear or shields is essentially purposeless.

A Game of the Year-esque version of Borderlands is supposed to be released in October. I'm pretty excited on getting it already since me and a few friends have been waiting for this.
A question for you guys. I've heard quite a few negative opinions on the Mad Moxxi arena DLC. For anyone who's played it, what did you think? I've also heard that it's pretty long-winded/tough if you're at high levels, so it might be something a team should do while they are relatively low-leveled. Any comments?

Mad Moxxi is worth it on Steam Sale day when you can get it for $3.00
At $10, it is not worth it.
Perhaps as a group it would be more fun, but I use it for the bank slots only. I didn't need it until my second play through.
If you get the Game of the Year version, won't it be bundled?

Mad Moxxi is much more fun after you have beaten the hell out of the game, have great gear and pretty good stats.

GPFontaine, it will be bundled in the Game of the Year version, I just wasn't sure if it would be something that should be done during low or high levels. Andrew Man votes for the latter, so...

I wouldn't even touch it until late through the second play through.
It takes too long to kill the guys at around level 40ish. They aren't hard, but you need to go through 25 waves of enemies to complete 1/3 of the first set of challenges. So that is 75 waves of ~10 enemies. It is a lot of fucking bullets.

I can only get though the first couple waves of the first bracket of Mad Moxxi, but I have no one to play with and am not maxed in level.

Well, I'm not always on but I'm Xandar Crews on there, I'd do it.
And Secret Armory's difficulty is weird; drifters destroy me, but I stood a hundred feet away from Motorhead and railed him with corrosive missiles until he died and barely got scratched.

I agree. I romped the fuck out of those invisible ninjas and heavily armored dudes without trying, but drifters still get me sometimes.

I imagine that the Drifters will be a larger issue on my second playthrough.
I hated the Skag Riders with dynamite. For that matter, I really hate grenade based enemies. I sometimes just don't see the grenade and then... bleeding out.

I never use launch weapons, I am almost exclusively Sniper and SMG, but that is partially because Mordecai gets so many awesome snipe buffs as you move up his skill tree.
Some revolvers are fucking outrageous as well.
Take for instance this one SMG I have. It does a damage of 200x4 (fires 4 separate rounds at a time), with a speed of like 16. It's one of the most devastating guns that I have.

Oh my fucking Christ I hate those dynamite midgets! They're so fucking accurate that I don't even see them before they kill me half the time; I just hear insane giggling, the hiss of the fuse and then BOOM

The new DLC has officially been dated as coming out on the 29th of this month. The level cap is being pushed to 69, yay.

And it's free. The panel at PAX also announced a September 28 release date for the Claptrap's New Robot Revolution DLC announced in March 2010.

Finally beat the game, finished the Zombie Island DLC and working on Finishing Gen. Knoxx right now at lvl 42. Should I finish up all the DLC before I mess with a new Playthough?

No.
When I completed the game the first time there was no DLC so I played all the way through the main game again for the second play through and have been on second play through since.
There is better loot and tougher enemies on a second playthrough so I see no reason to not start.

I did the following
1. Play through 1
2. DLC 1 (Ned)
3. Play through 2 until New Haven
4. DLC 3 (Knoxx)
5. Playthrough 2 am currently at lvl 52 about 75% done.
I plan to go back to DLC 1 and DLC 3 again and finally at level 61 I plan to do DLC 2 (Mox)

I am now on my second play through with my second character. I am frigg'n addicted to this game. I'll be getting DLC 4 soon.
Even with the repetition of multiple times through the quests, Scooter and Moxxi are a frigg'n riot to listen to.
