Well, I never tried any of the Guilty Gears. Maybe it's the time to give a try, huh?

Yes, it is. They're damn fun. It's also probably time for me to try some KOF, eh?

Between the two, I'd go with KOF. Guilty Gear is too hard (and swingy) for me to even try to play at a competitive level in a tournament.

Guilty Gear is good, although it takes a while to learn how to play it.

Yeah, the problem with Guilty Gear, which is also the thing people love about it, is that you have to learn to play it well in order to even stand a chance. In games like Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Street Fighter, you can mash your way to figure sometimes, but not in GG.

Guilty Gear is the only 2D fighter I've ever gotten into, they're pretty rad. The soundtracks are also orgasmifying.

Me and a co-worker were playing Guilty Gear X for PS1 back when FuncoLand was still a functioning chain, it took us forever to beat the final boss. Weren't there 2 parts and the end boss is like a ghostly woman?
Memories a little faded from 8 years ago. But yea you definitly can not just button mash you will get owned.
P.S. Chip is the Shit.

I prefer my "Chips" to have as little "pee" in them as possible hence: Chip the extra P is not only overkill to an already underused name but just makes it one extra bubble you have to fill in on the SAT and god knows thats not what we want.

Potemkin, cause I'm a weirdo.
In any case, Guilty gear just feels badass to play. It oozes it. The soundtrack is superb, and when you really wan't to get into it, theres layers and layers to be mastered.
KoF is also superior. Besides the new one, I'm particularly fond of 98, cause its the one my arcade had and its hella tight.
Street fighter forsake us. Capcom forsake us. Fuck you capcom! If you fuck up Resident Evil 5, I will go there and destroy you from the inside and turn the burning wreckage of your fallen company into my personal toilet.

I love guilty gear. I paly as ky, dizzy, chipp, and jam. I'm learnign johnny because he's fun. I wish I could learn how to play as i-no. did yo uknow that every name in the game is a music reference? even the names of special moves? theres an FAQ about it on gamefaqs.com.
I'm addicted to KOF 03 still to be honest, and am dying to play IX and NGBC. I wish they would replace joe with andy though
any anyone who mashes in soul calibur won't get very far.

too bad neither Joe nor Andy are in XI!
If you like 2003 though, you would definitely love XI. Trying to back and play 2003 afterwards, the game just feels so unpolished, none of the hits feel solid. XI is definitely the best KoF since '98, it just has such a wonderful engine that makes for really fast-paced matches.
It does have its faults though... namely the character balance, there's always got to be one character that's freakishly good, and in this game it's Gato, he's out of control. Kula and Oswald are way up there too, and then there's characters like Eiji who can do hyperhop jumping B all day long. Which is another thing that can be seen as both a good thing and a bad thing - you can do retardedly easy rushdown tactics. Characters like Eiji and Kyo have insanely good jumping B's that you can just spam over and over because they'll overprioritize most other normals. And unlike past KoF's, the hit stun is a lot longer on jumping attacks than it used to be, which makes it easier to go into combos. Of course, I'll take a game where rushdown is too good as opposed to a game where turtling is too good.
But yeah, XI is still tons of fun. It's a shame that the game hasn't gotten a US home release. It got a limited arcade release, lots of Tilt arcades ended up converting their Final Furlong cabinets into KoF XI's... yes, they converted a horce racing game into a fighting game. Don't ask me why, but Sega apparently made kits specifically designed to convert them (the horses are removed and a regular control panel is put in its place of course, and each player has their own monitor). It's weird. But yeah, check your local Tilt if you have one.
Can't wait for KoF XII, which is supposedly going to have completely redrawn sprites. Yeah, I won't believe that until I see it, but SNK Playmore's finally gotten the series back on track so who knows!

I love GG's music references and graphics and everything, but I just suck balls at it, like most 2D fighters. I was real good at KOF 99 though with Ralf...that game had killer music too. Dreamcast one anyhow.

ralf was one of my favorite cahracters in 99.
the fatal fury team in XI is awful, from what I've read. the only character I would even have a remote interest in playing as on that team is terry, and that's jsut because I've palyed as him since 94. I've dabbled in kim, but I don't like him too much. the hero team looks promising I suppose. I ahve oswald in my mugen and he's lots of fun, and I liked palying as ash and shen woo alot in 2003.
wow, even the art of fighting team got fucked here. robert being a PS2 exclusive? wtf?he was my andy replacement for the fatal fury team in 2003! (by that I mean I swapped out joe, ad the griffon is just too damn awesome)
maybe I'll jsut go back to using my edit team from neowave, which was athena, iori, and terry.

you read wrong, Duck King and Kim are both quite good in XI. Terry is alright too, he has one of the best LDM's in the game I think... you can NOT jump in on him when he has two meters charged.
