The online has been very sketchy and it's part of why I don't bother playing it much. IRL feels fine and dandy to me.

I am ashamed to say I have never played Tekken. I do greatly enjoy Soul Calibur II on the Xbox (cuz Spawn is way more awesome than Heihachi). I tried playing MvC2, but having to choose 3 separate characters and switch between them is not fun to me.
I recently grabbed Art of Fighting Anthology, and I didn't like it that much. The graphics are excellent, with fluid animation and nice scaling, but the gameplay is about equivalent to the Versus mode in Double Dragon on the NES. NeoGeo Battle Coliseum was a pleasant surprise, though; I may pick up a joystick on account of this one game. Yes, it revolves around tag-team, but being able to easily switch between two characters instead of three is a good kind of simpler. Plus, a lot of the characters have swords.
On a semi-related note, I don't like the Grand Theft Auto series. The main reason being that you are forced to be a bad guy. Crackdown, inFamous, etc. allow you to be a bad guy, but reward you if you play as a good guy (they at least allow you to be a good guy).

I really didn't think CJ from GTA:San Andreas was meant to be a bad guy, just wrapped into the whole situation to make him anti-hero-ish. Tommy Vercetti and Claude and hell even Niko were more bad guys, just Niko was meant to get the sympathy.

I notice no one has yet disagreed with me on the fact that Metroid Prime 3 sucked...

I disagree! The control scheme is fantastic and the Trilogy versions of Prime and Prime 2 are better for having used it.

You must not read carefully. Here is my first post in the thread.

I'll agree on Battlefront. I was stoked for that game but was pretty unimpressed.
Metroid Prime 3 was great though. |
What Syd, said. I loved the game. The control scheme is in fact very good.

I agree with the bit about CJ. It really felt uncharacteristic for him to steal cars or rob shit.

Resident Evil seems more about raising questions that they forget to answer. Here's a list of questions that keep me up at night.
-What did Wesker do with Steve's body? Will we ever see Steve again?
... |
You gotta play RE: Darkside Chronicles. It explains what happened to Steve's body.
*SPOILERS*
Long story short, Wesker sold the body to some crazy rich criminal named Javier in South America. Javier experiments around with the corpse and creates all sorts of havoc with the Veronica Virus. Steve never came back to life, unlike what Wesker hinted towards at the end of RE Code: Veronica X.

Speaking of Resident Evil, I'd like to mention RE4. It affected the RE series in the worst way imaginable. The last game that had the classic control style from the original games was RE Outbreak 2, but that was a mediocre title quite honestly. I played RE4 a million times, and I struggled to enjoy it. Leon Kennedy is one of my favorite characters, yet they butchered the series by getting rid of its original formula completely. Capcom sucks. >.<

Capcom DOES NOT suck.
I haven't played darkside chronicles yet. I should get it.
I hated leon in RE2. I didn't really start liking him until RE4, and honestly the RE series wouldn't have survived if RE4 didn't come out.

I really, really want to like Final Fantasy VI, but I just can't get into it, no matter how often I try. If any FF needed a DS remake, for me, it's VI.

Wow Panda, that is hard to believe as it is really compelling game for me.
In fact I found it easier to get stuck playing that game almost more than any other in the series, the story and characters are pretty incredible.

I haven't played Darkside Chronicles but I need to, Umbrella Chronicles was pretty good I thought for what it was. I agree that the series wasn't going to survive without an overhaul, though I personally enjoy the old style better. RE4 was amazing but lacked the survival horror feel. RE5 brought nothing new to the table. It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't tease us with it for 4 years. I remember seeing the first teaser for it months after RE4. I don't see why they couldn't have cranked it out a year later. The formula would have still been somewhat fresh. When the game finally came out, I thought to myself, "This is it?" The game felt like a barebones version of what we were promised.

Okay, I take that last part back. Capcom doesn't suck. That was one of the dumber things I've said.
But still, I miss the old style. I think the series would've done fine due to its loyal (and growing) fanbase; it just wouldn't have been prosperous as it is now. RE5 beat RE2 in sales, so I doubt Capcom will go back to the original formula.

Man, that trailer looks so much better. I love the part where the enemy pulls Chris' arm behind his back and knocks him on the ground. The enemies in the final version were a joke and the AI was seriously retarded. They'd run up to you and just stand there. The environments look much more destructable too. Also, the out of place asian and white people aren't there either.
Josh and Barry would be an interesting team for the next game.

The fanbase started growing more after RE4.
The old school fans usually gravitate away as they get older and move on.
A reinvention of the series to draw newcomers in and reinterest oldcomers was required. RE4 did that.

I know I've said this before but I think Billy should come back for RE6. I can picture him hiding out in South America when something goes wrong there. I know in Darkside Chronicles there was a South American chapter so I'm assuming that could set up the storyline. Maybe he can team up with Carlos. It'd be cool to take two of the more obscure characters and let them helm a game.

I know, everyone says that which is why I keep trying. Every time I bust it out and sit down to play, I tell myself "Ok, this time I'm going to really get into it and stick with it" and then every time, 5-10 hours in, I just stop making time to play it.
I don't dislike the game, I just don't have that compulsion to keep playing it day after day.

Billy was kinda cool, but I don't see how we could have Carlos without Jill, and Jill is currently jumbled up in Chris's exploits.
Josh and Barry would be like a buddy comedy, like Cop Out.
It would be nice to see what some of the older characters are up to, though. So far everyone who's had a second game has gotten a drastic character overhaul, so I'm curious to see what they do for older guys.

I'm mostly the same. I keep restarting, clearing the WoB or close to it, then I just get bored.
I think it's because you can't really do much at the start because of the lack of spells and stuff and every boss gets beaten almost the exact same way.

Well Carlos is from South America, I imagine that after the events of RE3, he left the UBCS and went back. He'd probably find some similar work, maybe as a bounty hunter or something. Maybe someone (US government, former Umbrella execs, whoever) gets tipped off that Billy isn't dead and he's living in South America so Carlos is hired to track him down. I think it could work out great and be an interesting team dynamic. While they both don't seem like they take things too seriously, they're kind of different in that regard. Billy is more of the indifferent loner type while Carlos is the light hearted fun type.
I think Capcom should take both our ideas, develop the games for the 3DS, and release them as Resident Evil: Red and Resident Evil: Blue. They should make it where you have to trade shit back and forth to complete both games.
