If it was sometime between 1987 and 1998, I would be all for it. Unfortunately, The Simpsons died for me during the episode where we learned that Skinner wasn't really Skinner. That's when the decline started.

The Frank Grimes Jr. episode was my breaking point.
I still watch the show occasionally, and I'll almost definitely go see the movie.

Whatever episode aired the same week as the premiere of Family Guy is the last Simpsons episode I ever watched... all hail Family Guy!

I HATED Family Guy the first couple of times I saw it. I thought Peter was annoying as fuck, especially his laugh, and that the show was crass Simpsons rip-off. After awhile, the show started to grow on me.
I still watch The Simpsons, but they're not as good as they used to be. In particular, I loathe the cheap, uneducated shots that they take at other cartoons. The South Park parody where OJ Simpson kills Kenny and then Farty The Robot stands out as a really unclever joke that was clearly written by someone with only a passing knowledge of SP.
Meanwhile, South Park does their homework. The Simpsons Already Did It and Cartoon Wars were part homage, part send-up and were far less mean-spirited and petty than the Simpsons showing a picture of Peter Griffin for the definition of plagiarism.

Even though I knew it would be bad, I still wanted to see it as a farewell to a series that gave me many years of laughs... Back when this movie was supposedly going to close the book on the series. Oh yeah, and until I heard through Yahoo Movies that a sequel to it is already planned. Forget it.

Family Guy just hasn't been the same since it came back.
Meanwhile, South Park has been getting better and better. Smart, political, social commentary with libertarian common sense, plus the random episode about childhood adventure/imagination. New episodes in March, I can't wait.
