I'll admit my tastes in games are a little weird. I'll play anything from Vectorman to It's Mr. Pants! as long as it's fun. So it dismays me when I find I am the only person who hates (or likes) a particular game.
Here are a few examples.
10. Call of Duty: World at War - The first time I tried campaign, I got shot by someone I couldn't see. Even if I could have, all the good and bad guys have nearly identical uniforms. The reason this isn't higher on the list is that Zombies mode is more fun than a barrel of Monkees.
9. Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO - I know Syd hates this one too, but I have a feeling that the fun I didn't have was mostly the controller. The GameCube's Control Stick has an octagonal cutout (forget doing any kind of circles effectively), and the PS2's D-pad is, as I've often said, horrible for any fighting game other than Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3.
8. Quake III Arena - On the PC, it's nearly impossible to hit anyone with the rocket launcher. Fortunately, the PS2 port (Quake III Revolution) adds a tiny bit of auto-aiming, which helps tremendously.
7. Gauntlet - The original's gray bricks and tiny, pixellated sprites put me to sleep in a hurry, not to mention you constantly lose health even when you're not being hit. Gauntlet Legends is infinitely better, whether in the arcade or on the N64 (or Dreamcast).
6. Mega Man X (series) - TOO FRICKIN' HARD!!! During the 1.5 years I owned Mega Man X Collection, I only managed to beat one boss of one game. Chill Penguin's defeat is what caused me to have to wear a wig for the next month.
5. Castlevania - The first game falters due to the ugly graphics and stiff play control. Super Castlevania IV, meanwhile, remains a classic.
4. Star Wars Battlefront - I really had high hopes for this game. The huge number of troops makes the game feel like an MMO (PlanetSide, anyone?), but it also increases the odds of being killed. In addition to being extremely vulnerable despite the bulky white armor a Clone Trooper wears, you have to go all the way back to the options menu to change your viewpoint. Capturing points is a pain as well.
3-1. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - That's right, this game is 4 times as bad as Battlefront. My wrist hurt from twisting it to open every door, and the opening scene where you fly the ship was not fun. The instructions "Pull the throttle" are worthless unless it tells you where it is. Is it by the seat like a car, or is it up top like the hovercrafts in The Matrix? I absolutely loved the first two, and I still have one question: Where the [expletive] did the multiplayer go?!
So there you are, 8 games you love that I hate. Hope you liked the rant!

That's because the original is based off of the arcade. Note that in the arcade version of Gauntlet Legends you still lose health every couple seconds because Atari needs money badly.
I do believe there's an open complaining about games thread.

I like how critics bitched about the gauntlet legends ports because they lacked the "excitement" of constantly having to pump quarters in. Fucking morons

If Mega Man X is too hard, you're doing something wrong.

Seriously. Heart tanks galore. I actually remember somebody saying that Mega Man X was too easy while Mega Man X2 took him over a year to beat. That game was almost easier! Goddamit people are stupid.

Animal Crossing. I got bored the first time trying to find everyone in the village. I got bored the second time trying to raise money by doing monotonous crap. I then loaded up Painkiller and proceeded to destroy legions of undead monks with a blender-on-a-stick.

It could just be the collection; I seem to remember the first game being easier than that (but I was a hyperactive little kid, so I don't know).

I'll admit that some of Mega Man X's bosses can be tough to beat right off the bat when you don't know the weapon advantage system or where to find the power-ups, but I still feel that the game gets easier the longer you play it since you're gaining weapons and are likely to find heart-tanks, sub-tanks, and armor upgrades, especially if you have patience and explore the levels instead of blazing through them. I'll also have to admit that the final boss can be pretty bad if you aren't prepared, but games need some sort of challenge.
Try picking up the game again sometime! I'm about to make some lighthearted boss recommendations that don't expose the weapon advantage system, but I'll discuss what bosses to fight when you begin the game with no experience or power-ups. So, avoid if you want the normal experience. Chill Penguin and Flame Mammoth aren't too bad without special weapons; Chill Penguin's stage is considered the universal first stage to complete because you are forced to get the Leg Upgrade, which are instrumental to survival. I'd also personally say that Storm Eagle, Spark Mandrill and Sting Chameleon aren't extremely tough with just the X-Buster, too. Armored Armadillo, Launch Octopus and Boomer Kuwanger have trickier patterns so you might want to avoid fighting them right off the bat. Good luck!

If you can't aim (or plainly suck) at Quake, then yeah, it's nearly impossible to hit anyone with the RL. You are welcome to come over to my house and watch me shoot rockets at people with awesome accuracy. It's not, hehe, rocket science, you know. It's a simple ability, called "trajectory calculation," or something to that effect. Basically, you shoot a rocket where the person WILL be standing and not where the person is.
Y'know, logic.

Complaining about the graphics in Gauntlet and Castlevania is fail. You're obviously too young. Go back in time and make your parents Meet And Fuck a few years earlier.
I will agree that Gauntlet is not especially fun though. Believe it or not, as frustratingly hard as the game is, in early revisions it was possible for good players to get their life totals so high that they could take long breaks from playing (assuming they had someone to guard the machine for them) and their health still wouldn't run out.
Castlevania's pretty fun. The first three levels are moronically easy, the last three are a lot tougher. And honestly, that was good design. Look back, it was possible to beat most non-RPGs in less an hour, out of the box, if you were good. Games still cost $50 back then, and most of us only got games for holidays and birthdays, so you wanted a game that was a little tough.

Hey, you want to see really, really bad graphics? Run the DOS (or mobile phone) port of Castlevania.

I bet the mobile phone version looks okay on the size screen it was intended to run on.
You wanna see bad graphics? Play every ZX Spectrum game ever.

The only problem I had with Gauntlet- I couldn't pick up the first key. I walked over it, shot it, mashed buttons, and nothing happened. Never even made it past the first door.

I agree with this. When Castlevania first came out I played level 1 and 2 of this game for hours on end without questioning the graphics (the omission of other levels was due to my lack of skill).
Just because graphics have gotten better over the years shouldn't take away from how good a game was in its time. I'm not suggesting that the game stands the test of time, because it does have poor play control and lesser graphics by today's standards, however when it came out, it was amazingly awesome.

Castlevania 1 >> Castlevania 3. Why? Because I can beat the former.

He's right. I can beat Giant Bat, Medusa, and the Mummy Men without too much of a problem, but when I meet The Creature he destroys me. Well not really him, but Igor and his FRICKIN' 1/3 HEALTH COSTING FIREBALLS!
Also, I thought the game had some excellent graphics back in the day. Defintely not Mario Bros. 3 quality, but better than most of the early NES library.

I'll agree on Battlefront. I was stoked for that game but was pretty unimpressed.
Metroid Prime 3 was great though.

Dude i downloaded Quake 3 last week and have been playing it, it's really easy to hit people with the rocket launcher.
Hell i joined a server were the start weapon wast he rocket launcher. If your having problems aiming change mouse sensitivity.
I will admit though it is one of those weapons were you have to predict were people are going to be or you have to shoot in a straight line.
I remember playing Gauntlet for gameboy and not enjoying it.

Okami. I really tried to delude myself into thinking this game was good like everyone says but I just couldn't. It was boring, full of embarassingly stupid humor, and frankly I just got sick of looking at the art style. This game fucking sucked.

Probably any Tekken after Tag Tournament, 4 was a terrible broken piece of shit and 5 is okay but it just feels really dull and doesn't seem like anything new at all. Tekken 6 isn't any different, it also doesn't help that the metagame has changed from combos to constantly juggling your opponent with the same low sweep kick that every damn character has.

Castlevania's graphics were okay for the time, but I...dammit. I was thinking of another game, I don't remember which. I do remember there being tons of graphics glitches, and the game had virtually no colors other than dark green, dark blue, dark brown and dark black.
And Animal Crossing was okay, but I don't have the time to play it constantly. Harvest Moon is better because time freezes while you're not playing.
