| Since the forum battle takes place on the forums and there are lots of people there that never use the IRC room, it doesn't make sense to have someone whose only presence is in the IRC as a large number of people will have no idea who they are. |

No, but considering you had 3 posts this month, 0 the last 2 months, and 3 in April (IIRC, maybe it was 3 in June and only 0 in July, but regardless) I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to say that's roughly akin to someone who hasn't reached the minimum number of posts to participate.
I mean, if johnymorgue had suddenly shown up and tried to join the battle, I don't imagine he would've been allowed for the same reason. It's fair to say that a lot, and maybe even most of the active members at this point really don't know you and only know of you. |
If I may direct your attention back towards UsaSatsui's initial post regarding the forum battle, and the requirements to join...

Senority - You've been a member of the forums or you've been a regular visitor to the IRC chat for at least three months. That's March 1st, folks.
Post Count - If you're still pretty new, you can get in if you have at least 50 posts. This shows you're new, but contributing. If you're just contributing spam, though, forget it.
Achievement - If you've done something significant with the site or the forum (like win a NES challenge), you're in.
Personal Letter of Recommendation - If you fail all three of these tests, if you can get Syd to send me a PM to allow you into the contest, I'll let you in. I hope Syd won't write these willy-nilly. |
I have been a member of the forums for longer than three months, and in the last several months I have regularly showed up in the IRC. I also have a post count higher than 50, and UsaSatsui left no requirements for how many posts you needed to make in the months before the Forum Battle to enter. Considering I have satisfied two of these four requirements necessary to join, and only one is necessary, I don't see a problem.
Are you seriously arguing that I failed some sort of qualifications necessary to join the Forum Battle?
