I've read that there's a trick where if you tap up or down on a ladder really quickly, you can skip animation frames and move faster. I'm not having much luck making it work on my console D-Pad.

actually, empire was the only one that i legitimately beat. i never was able to beat a new hope or return of the jedi. |
Interesting. I was only able to beat New Hope. That boss on the Hoth level...you don't beat him the first time with your powered up blaster, you're fucked.

Me and my friends have a name for almost beating a game, and quitting just at the end. Final Stage Apathy.
With Final Fantasy I, IV, V and VI I got to the final castles, but never even got to the last boss. I've played them up to the final castles several times, but just never fought the damn last boss.
Also, Super Mario Bros 2... I got to Wart like twice, then lost, and never had the patience to try again...
Fuck you flying key-wielding shy guys...

Pac-man, Q-bert, Dig Dug, Robotron, all the arcade classics really. It seems like you can keep playing them and never really beat them. They just keep getting harder and harder. But seriously, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2. Those games were fun but fuckin hard as hell. Also I only enjoyed playing the first 2 levels of Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. After that the levels seemed just too hard to be fun anymore.

Morrowind and Oblivion, I never got through the main quests because I'm always too busy fucking around and stealing everything that's not nailed down.

yeah, I found out about the MODPCS/MODPCA cheats and never looked back... until now, and looking back I bet it would have been more fun if I hadn't ran at 200 miles per hour, jumped 80 ft in the air, and been able to kick a horse across a lake.

I always feel like Battletoads was a completely missed opportunity. It seemed ideal for an off-the-wall beat em' up series, but instead most of it was devoted to a lot of lame vehicle levels or boring one-hit death stages.

Now, Battletoads and Double Dragon is a hell of a game, but alas I have never beaten it. Nor have I ever beaten Tiny Toons Acme All-Stars, which I guess is as close as you can get to Mario Party on the Genesis - it's a great game, but you can't help but feel like being an adult in a ballroom (the playroom, not a dance hall) playing it.
I've also never beaten Sonic Spinball or Sonic and Knuckles.

Good call on Sonic Spinball, that game is unique and a lot of fun, but gets pretty brutal in the later levels.

Ha ha yeah, if you use the combination of mod attribute + soul trap on target glitch with Morrowind too much you end up running faster than the Xbox can render the graphics.
How about Wrecking Crew? Anyone ever beat that game? Frustrates the hell out of me.

Finally beat Metroid for the first time evar (blind run, aside from reading of Valdronius' blind run).
Then immediately beat it a second time.

I'll have to say Advance Wars 2. The game was great, and I'll still play a random match every once in a while, but I never completed the campaign.
