Because Megaman was originally going to be a game based around the Astro Boy franchise, but they couldn't get the rights to the series, so they had to come up with their own robotic 10-year-old?

I watched Astro Boy as a kid and loved it. When I watched it again more recently, I couldn't really watch it for very long.
Mega Man.... well... Christ, he's Mega Man. CASE CLOSED!

Well then, Prepare to be shocked.
Besides, Astro Boy is one of the greatest and oldest animes in existence (1958!?).
Mega Man is still cool though.

He's at, your command. Gigantor the space age robot, his power is in your hand!
BIGGER THAN BIG, STRONGER THAN STRONG, QUICKER THAN QUICK, TALLER THAN TALL, here to fight for right, against wrong.
Gigantor, Gigantor.
I love megaman, but astroboy omega factor was a fantastic game. Now compare astroboy and his illustrious series to the megaman cartoon they had in america. The answer is clear.

Oh, are we comparing TV series here? Then Astro Boy, hands down.
On a side note, Syd needs a YouTube with his avatar striking a pose whilst the classic boss selection theme plays in the backround.

Regardless of whether I am comparing the television series or everything involving them, I am going to have to go with Mega Man.
Recently at GameStop we received one of the DVD collections of Astro Boy and for each episode that I could tolerate being in hearing range of the television, the dialog for many of the episodes were barely tolerable. Yes, it may have been the beginning for many things, but the love just isn't there anymore. It used to be there when I was younger, but not anymore. And I suppose that is where I fail.
I can still stand to watch the Mega Man cartoon, though. Even though every episode seemed to contain the same exact formula, especially the whole "being disabled in water" bit. They could be strolling along in the desert when suddenly Mega Man falls in an underground cave (of course containing water), then proceeds to use Cut Man and Guts Man's abilities to save the day while having emotional trauma suffered by interacting with Proto Man. After that, Rush would do some sort of slap stick gag and everyone is a little wiser from the experience. Until the next episode that is.

I think this thread was dead delition.
And as a random thought, does anyone actually think a little boy with control of a space age robot (Gigantor) would not be completely irresponisible with it?
And doesn't megaman swim in all of his games? (or, immerse himself in water, where everything works like before but he jumps really high?)
And why wouldn't put a shirt on your little boy robot? Its creepy.
These shows raise questions that will never be answered.

If I had control of Gigantor the Space Age Robot, I wouldn't be fighting any goddamn bad guys. I'd be stepping on people.

my locker at work is 009.
wouldn't megaman just have a weapon in his arsenal that astroboy is conveniently weak to? if not, megaman is fucked, because astroboy can fly and shit, and megaman can't even aim upwards.

I know, that's always the cop-out reply about Megaman not being able to shoot up.
But that was like, one Megaman game, man.

Metal Blade, Shadow Blade, Magnet Missile, Pharaoh Shot, Gyro Blade. Any other potentials I'm forgetting?

I was just trying to be a bastard.
Though the handling in the Astroboy SNES game is so terrible, I don't think megaman would have any trouble.

Some of those weapons were shit in that game. In contrast, astroboy had a big ass finger laser.
Astroboy is probably weak to something completely arbitrary, like the weapon you got from TarantulaMan. In the same way that shadowman was weak to top spin.
