You may disagree with me, but my fave one is Sonic CD... We really need more Sonic games like that. 'cause lately, the series has gone up shit's creek... with paddles. I didn't like Shadow and the X360/PS3 one was alright.

Also, I liked the soundtrack of SCD (both US and Japanese). I enjoy listening to it on my iPod.

What 'cha guys think?

Refresh my memory, the differences between sonic CD and the original sonic cartridge version (besides the CD audio) was what exactly? Where there more levels, extra characters, was it a whole different game? I can't remember. I never did buy into the Genesis much. I had one, but I only had like 5 games for it. I had alot more fun with the SNES. That and the SNES controller didn't hurt my hands as much. That may be weird, but I liked the ergonomics of the SNES controller better.

I think that the Atari Jaguar is the best system, and Sonic BigBlast was the best Sonic game (on it). The Atari Jaguar controller is the best controller, hands down. I loooooooove having all those numbers right on the controller.

For anyone that doesn't know (probably just me) it was a whole new game with it's own storyline and everything.

my favorite was sonic 2.

I liekd shadow alot, and really tried to enjoy the 360 one.... but they keep pumping out these new games with new features and new characters, but they still haven't fixed the controls from sonic adventure.

when I can sucessfully run and collect rings, and jump on enemies without fearing plummeting to my death, I'll enjoy the games alot more.

The newest Sonic game (Sonic and the Seven Rings) is being done by a new crew of Sonic Team and looks ot be a genuinely good and true Sonic game.

Sonic 2 is definitely my favorite. Sonic and Knuckles is in 2nd. Damn, the boss music from both of those games ruled!

I like Sonic 3 + Knuckles the best, to be honest. Sonic 2 was great, but Sonic 3 topped it in every way for me at the time. Brighter colors, bigger levels, more chaos emeralds, game saving feature, etc. Plus I love that kick-ass bonus stage. I hate the one from 2, because tails is a dumbfuck and continually runs into bombs, costing you rings, so you never get the goddamn emerald.

Sonic 2 + knuckles was a neat idea in theory, but in practice it sucked ass. Yay, let's replace sonic's higher jump with a lower, stupid one that makes it even harder to beat bosses such as the aztec level, and add the wall-climbing element to explore a game that you're meant to run through as quickly as possible. Okay!

Yeah, Tails is retarded. I usually turn him off in the options menu.

Yeah, but in all fairness, it's not like Sonic 2 was intended to have Knuckles in it, nor did you have to buy another special cartrdge to play Sonic 2 + Knuckles -- it was just a fun bonus if you already had both games.

I have Sonic Mega Collection for PS2 and I'm definitely satisfied with it. For a favorite, I'd have to say 3. I felt the bonus rounds were much more fun than the ones from Sonic 2.

Yeah, you've got a point about the bonus rounds. The ones in 2 did kinda suck, however the music was really catchy. I found it interesting that they revamped those bonus rounds for the abominable Sonic Heroes.

Sonic Adventure 2 is also high on my list, though I was never really thrilled by the Knuckles & Rouge levels.

I loved SA2.. Spent almost my entire summer vacation playing that the year it came out..

So my top is basically:

Sonic CD, Sonic 3 + Knuckles, and SA2. Sonic 2 is also a good one.

I never played any Sonic games, aside from a couple minutes on that one that comes with a game gear.

I'm a big fan of pretty much any Sonic game... I guess I'll go with Sonic 1, because the debug mode was super badass at the time.

You mean the 8-bit Sonic 2? That game was FUCKIN' hard.

I also liked Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble on GG.

Sonic 2 has the best music. Interesting level design. semi-difficult bosses (depending on how many times you've played through it). Fun debug mode. It just never gets old. Sonic in his prime.

not to say that Sonic 3/sonic and knuckles/sonic 3 + knuckles isn't in a close second.
It too has great music, and fun levels, and semi fun bosses, and cool powerups. and getting all the chaos emeralds and then all the extra chaos emeralds and becoming hyper sonic/tales/knuckles was very fun. But the game lacked something special to give it that necessary replay value. After you get everything, and because the game is so long, you don't want to pick it up again and play through it because lets face it,getting 100% is fucking exhausting. The only replay value lies in playing as different charachters, and aside from the slightly different story lines and abilities, it doesn't change the game that much.

where as sonic 2 is very easy and fun to play 3 or 4 times in a row without getting really bored. The gameplay just doesn't slow down, there aren't too many side quests to get in your way and lame cutscenes, it's just fast, nonstop sonic action and fun levels. and really, that's what a sonic game SHOULD be.

Well, I agree with the Sonic 3 + Knuckles thing being too long. back when I had my Genesis/Sega CD Duo system, S3+K was my entire weekend. hell, after I beat it, I didn't touch it for months straight.

i know for me,it took about 2 seconds.

Sonic 2+Knuckles was an interesting distraction, and that's about it. But I do loves me some Sonic Mega Collection, about as much as my Megaman Anniversary Collection, and my Megaman X Collection.
