That stage can be skipped entirely, so it wouldn't be a problem.
But the first castle is impossible because there's a one-block-high passage, which cannot be crossed as a frog.

But is it really a challenge if you don't try to frog suit the entire game? On the other hand what's the point if it's not possible in some areas? Is this even real? What if I'm not real?

Found out how to trivialize (kinda) level 8. Now the only real run enders are the Hammer Bros, level 7, and that Airship until I figure out what it looks like.

I like this idea overall. It was hard to discuss challenge progress in the official contest because of the relative nature of the scoring (I.e. for the Smash TV contest, saying something like "I'm up to 5 million points so far" only invites other people to just try to beat that).

What were the rules for the frog suit challenge? Get as far as you can in a world without losing the suit at all?

Exactly. I want to be able to discuss tricks and stuff with other people about the challenges. It's more fun when people share the neat tricks they found IMO.
But as challenges in RPGs would be somewhat like solving a puzzle, I think discussing them should wait a bit to give people time to try figuring it out.

Yes. It was in World 1, and your score was determined by how many levels you completed. Max points for every level beaten obviously.

Once someone sends a run, I'll edit the first post to add links to the challenges in the thread and add the ranking of everybody who completed at least one challenge.

Hammer bros? They never gave me any trouble.

In any case, success! (barely)

Not watching until I succeed myself (got to the Airship 8 times, keep missing random jumps and crashing into bullet bills).

Have you done the other worlds too or only World 5? Well, it's not like you'd have any problem with them, but...

Try beating an nes game using only one hand. I just recently beat the first 8 levels and robot masters of megaman 3 this way, it isn't too terribly difficult so if anyone else tries it I recommend trying to do it with out using any continues. I only used one and that was just because i was getting used to the controls.

Well then, you are awesome. Unfortunately your only reward is a virtual pat-on-the-back.

As long as it's an action game. Most RPG's would be pretty much the same with one hand.

In regards to the thread title, I've tried to get through Destiny of an Emperor using the shittiest warlords possible. Then I gave up and decided to go with just mediocre ones. If you use all the good warlords available to you then the game just becomes too easy over time.

Here's a Super Smash TV challenge that doesn't take over 30 minutes to complete :

- Clear the "Walls of Pain" room in level 3 without dying, and without using powerups (had to add this because once the game kept giving me force fields and nukes and it was too easy).

If (or rather when) you accidentally pick up a powerup, get rid of it as fast as possible without killing enemies (shoot at a wall or something).
The speedup powerup doesn't count and you can use it as much as you want (USE IT!), and your run ends immediately if you ever pick up a nuke or the yellow-shurikens shield.

Game
Save State

Here's a video to help you :

I forgot about this thread.

I will have a stab at the mario one.

EDIT:

What emulator do you need to use to play the save states?

I'm using nestopia and it ain't working.

I'm using VirtualNES and SNES9x. You could try changing the file extension to whatever your emulator uses though (.001, .sav1, etc.).
I don't know if it'll work though as I only tested this with GBA emulators.

I can't record with fraps on it.

I guess i will just pass on attempting it!

I use HyperCam personally. But you don't have to record a video, you can just post the replay file.
Or if you absolutely want a video I could record it and send it to you or something.

I wanted to record one but don't worry about it! I'm not that fussed.

At first, I wanted to ban the speedup powerup too, but it kept spawning next to me and I'd run into hit. It's quite a bit harder at normal speed.

Anyway, it's not like I made this challenge with you in mind Smile

I've got a super good one.

Beat The original 'Legend of Zelda' without using the sword... only the candle. It can be done, it has been done. DO IT!
