the characters in killer instinct weren't that bad. look at the retards in mortal kombat, or any of the real 3do or jaguar fighters.
you must really suck at the game if you can get hit once and be infinite comboed. |
Mortal Kombat always sucked. I actually liked the sub-zero platformer on the ps1 and the lu kang 3D beat em up they made recently more than a single one of the gay ass gimmick fighters. Even as a child I loathed it.
And actually I did suck at killer instinct. I probably could have become competant at it, but I played though once and found it dull. It didnt grip me, the single player. And multiplayer was even less fun. In any case I'm tired of arguing about killer instinct. I didnt like it, and I'm not concerned with ever playing any of RARE's games. I missed the much vaunted golden age of RARE, and the SNES/arcade gave me two games I played that I didnt like and several games I didnt even want to bother with.

You should definitely give Donkey Kong Country 2 a go, though.

all I'm saying is that jsut because you didn't like it doesnt mean it was awful. I'm allowed to argue with people about stupid things like tish too.
shaolin monks was a pretty sweet game, although I don't share your love for myhtologies.

One of my friend's had a special hatred for Killer Instinct, not because he hates the series, but because he went through THREE copies of KI:Gold in about as many days. He bought the cart at FuncoLand (now GameStop) and it wouldn't work. He returned it, got a new one, and it worked for a couple of hours and died. Then he returned that one and finally got one that worked.

your buddy has shit luck with games.
KI gold sucked though. it paled in comparison to KI2 in arcades. then again ,the same thign applies for KI on SNES. you gotta play KI in the arcade to truly enjoy it. I used to have to turn the speed all the way up to max when I played on my N64.

For a while, one of my neatest possessions was a KI medallion I bought from the Nintendo Power catalog. I used it as a keychain, and on one side was the "KI" logo, and on the other was a "Nintendo Ultra 64" logo.
I loved it because by the time the system was released, "Ultra" was dropped from the name, and KI was never released for the system -- just KI Gold. So both sides were wrong. It was like owning a misprinted stamp.

As I recall, Taco Bell had a promotion for the N64 at one point where they gave out cardboard coins with your food. One side had a character on it, the other side had a point value. If you were able to get 64 points, you won something I think. As I recall, it was fairly early in the N64's life cycle and some of the coins had KI characters.

They definitely were. Nintendo Power ran all kinds of stuff about it, and that's why it's a KI medallion, not a KI Gold one.

That was on gameads.gamepressure.com!! Look for Mario Kart 64, and I think that was the promotion you were talking about. Happened in early '97.

I remember that. I was subscribing to NP when the N64 was coming out. They really were pumping the KI in there.
As for KI Gold, I didn't mind it. I thought the training mode was kind of neat, especially for familiarizing myself with the new characters and old characters I never really played as. I don't remember much other than that though...

a logical thing would be to put the first KI on the 64, a sysem that could hadle it.
it would have been beter than the sNES one.

Yep. From Arcade-History.com:
Quote: |
"Cruis'n USA" and Killer Instinct were both released as public previews for the then upcoming 'Nintendo Ultra 64' console (later renamed the 'Nintendo 64'). Killer Instinct was the first game to be ported to a home console; NOT to the Nintendo 64, as intended, but to the Nintendo Super NES. This was due to the Nintendo 64's development falling severely behind schedule. Only "Cruis'n USA" would actually appear on the Nintendo 64. |
On a different note, despite the significant graphical improvements between KI and KI2/Gold, I still prefer the original. I dunno, there's just something about it that appeals to me more.

well with KI or KI2, the arcade version looks a thousand times better than the console version.

I Finally Got A Wii
Second-hand, with Wii Sports, Zelda: TP (though I have it on GCN, it came with the console) and Need for Speed Carbon. I also bought a new copy of Wario Ware.
It's alright, what games are coming out soonish which I should get?

I don't know what the release dates are for England... Metal Slug Anthology is already out and that's pretty cool. Sonic comes out soon, Super Paper Mario comes out soon, MK: Armageddon if you don't already have it on another console...

I ended up skipping Wii for a 360... I got screwed on my ride to get Wii on launch, then played my friends for awhile. Very cool system but right now it seems to be lacking in games. I can't wait for Metroid Prime 3 though.
I do very much like my 360 though hehe.

The Wii and the 360 are their own flavors of awesome, and I want a 360 very badly (I already have a Wii). But the PS3 sucks.

Nice, man. There's a friend code thread buried somewhere, containing my friend code, Syd's, Lordsathien's, JonnyMorgue's, and Morphine Jim's.
