From http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/07/27/iron-man-wolverine-and-more-marvel-anime-projects-head-to-g4-in-2011/

Fans won't have to wait for "The Avengers" to get another dose of Tony Stark in action, because an all-new "Iron Man" animated series is on the way alongside some other prominent Marvel superheroes.

As part of the Marvel Anime line, a wave of "Iron Man," "Wolverine," "X-Men" and "Blade" animated projects are headed to G4 in 2011, with each property receiving a 12-episode story arc created under the guidance of comic book scribe Warren Ellis.

According to the official press release, all four anime projects take the iconic Marvel characters to Asia. The "Iron Man" anime focuses on Tony Stark's development of a new arc reactor in Japan, while the "Wolverine" anime follows the Japanese story put forth by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont's celebrated comic book run. The "X-Men" anime also takes place in Japan, while the "Blade" series sees the vampire hunter searching for Deacon Frost in Vietnam.

Ellis has discussed the announcement on his official website, saying that the projects "were commissioned and created specifically for the southeast Asian market."

"The way it worked is that I devised four serials for Marvel Anime — 'Iron Man,' 'Wolverine,' 'X-Men' and 'Blade.' Which means that I came up with 12-episode stories for each property," he said. "For the most part, I used pre-existing stories as adaptation material — the 'Wolverine' story, for instance, takes the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller 'Wolverine' miniseries from the early '80s as its basic spine."

"I then wrote outlines for each episode of each serial," he continued. "These outlines were then turned into scripts by [Japan-based animation studio] Madhouse's writers, and then made into animation by Madhouse's directors and animators. Because I knew the process in advance, the outlines were really just plot, pacing and color. I imagine and expect that I've been seriously rewritten in places by the actual writers, which is fine and all part of the process."

Hmm not to sure how to feel about this, Anime Wolverine could be terrible (imagine it like Dragon Ball Z, all goofy and shit) or it could be Awesome (like maybe I dunno, Akira) Confused

I think I saw trailers for these. Wolverine is a long haired samurai that kills demons, and iron man fights space pirates.

Lamesauce.

See if they would have stuck with the established storyline and had the guys who do Cowboy Beebop how awesome would it have been? Sadly no

lol

I'm looking forward to the Iron Man one most of all, since anything mecha/power armor there is handled with a lot of love, and it'd be interesting to see what nifty stuff they do, and weapons they add and such.

Guess I'm the only one who remembers the Marvel Mangaverse.

It just feels like they missed the point.

Iron man:

Wolverine:

just sayin, if they wanted to update captain harlock and rip off x and vampire hunter d, they could have accomplished this without marvel liscenses.

huh, broslice, those came out almost a year and a half ago, before any storylines or writing was set in place. they're animation testss

also they both look really bomb, but i'm not really big on the 'japan sucks anime is dumb' train, so these look awesome to me.
wolverine has had lots of different adventures spread across different kinds of media and storylines. if there can be zombie wolverine, why can't there be samurai wolverine?

You should know that I'm not one of those anti anime types.

I was unaware that they were just animation tests. I thought they were trailers.

We'll have to wait and see what turns out, I guess. The wolverine one looks especially horrendous though. Iron man might he nice.

Bump to say that I suck cocks and totally take back anything bad that I've said about iron man. That shit is awesome. I've been reading a lot of x-men lately, so now I'm curious about the x-men anime as well.

TGWTG's MasakoX did a review of the Iron Man stuff recently. He said it was a little off, but showed promise.

the only thing that really annoyed me was that they brought Yinsen back from the dead in some bullshitty bullshit, and made him the villain.
